Embroidery is our last theme for 2023. Can you imagine that Shelbee and I ,work, together for almost 7 years now! And we still love it! Well at east I do, lets not speak for someone else, it’s a habbit of me…..
Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?
It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!
So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Embroidery!
First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
I was drawn to the beautiful floral embroidery on this dress when I bought it on clearance over 5 years ago. But I never liked cold shoulder styles or the fit of this dress so I only wore it one time. I said Good Bye to it during my last closet clean out. Now I wish I had kept it because I could probably alter it to fit me better. Oh well.
Joanne of Slices of Life
I honestly have no idea just how old these pants are; I remember getting them when my boys were quite little. They are actually a few sizes too big and an inch or so too long so I know I really should say good bye to them. But I just can not seem to bring myself to get rid of them. I love the embroidery detail (which is actually on the bottom of each pant leg and varies slightly). I tend to wear them with a pair of heels and a fitted top to help them fit better.

Embroidery??
OMG, I’m such a sucker for any and all of it.
For example these boots. Totally a fantabulous buy from at least 6 years ago and worn every winter. I especially love them with shorter skirts and shorts so you can see all of the lovely embroidery.
Mireille of Chez Mireille
The plaid shirt is by Caite and Kyla pieces I scored on Poshmark a few years ago. Love it!
Sheila of Ephemera
This black velvet blazer is from the early 00s, which I know because a high school friend who worked as a buyer for Canadian chain Le Chateau wore it to a reunion lunch back then. I hugely admired the embroidery and rich colours, and always thought, “Maybe one day I’ll find one second hand for myself.” And I did! This is a Good Buy
Anna of Looking Fabulous at Fifty
Your latest challenge made me think for a while and then I remembered the golden embroidery jacket that my daughter bought for me when she was working for Minkpink designer label. At the beginning I didn’t know how to style it but then we were going to our wedding anniversary and I thought that this jacket would be perfect for the occasion. It is a bit hot for our summer but I am planning to wear it more often in a cooler months . So it was a Good buy.
Laura of I Do DeClaire
Di of Di-alog
This black full skirt has a heavily embroidered border of white exotic flowers. I think this skirt was a good buy! I wear it other times during the year, but this piece comes in especially handy during the Christmas holiday season when I want to be extra fancy!
And here is my embroidery
I am not a huge fan of embroidery to be honest. But everytime I wear this dress I’m thinking: why don’t I wear it more often! It fits perfectly, has a good lenght, is a very good quality. I wore it last summer once, but it is a fabulous one to wear now too! A Good Gift, as it was part of a collaboration.
January’s theme will be: Holiday gifts! Which ones are your favourites and which one will be returned!
And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!
Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com

Which one Jennifer?
I’m with you, Nancy. I’m not the biggest fan of embroidery either. I think it’s very pretty and always think other people look really good in it, but it’s just not very me! Needless to say, I don’t think I own anything with embroidery on it. Oh, I tell a lie. I might actually own a handbag. Hm…having said that, I think I might have given it away recently!
Have a lovely weekend, my friend! I hope it’s not too cold where you are, but I expect it probably is!
Hugs

It is cold here Suzy and we hardly see any sun. It’s grey and wet most of the days. But we are almost on the shortest day and after that in my head we are on our way to spring! Lol.
Can’t believe it’s been 7 years! I never get enough embroidery, Love your dress and I agree it fits amazing. Thanks so much for the link up!

Me neither! Where did the time go right? Thanks Kathrine!
I don’t think I own much embroidery. That dress does fit you well and looks great on you but your style is a bit more edgy and I think that may be why you don’t reach for it as much. It is still a keeper though!

The dress is beautiful on you, and definitely a nice one to keep in your wardrobe, even if you only wear it occasionally! It seems an easy one to style, since it’s your color-black! Love all of the beautiful embroidery on the participants in the challenge, and thanks for including me! Hope you have a great weekend!

Thank you very much for joining us Anna!
Hi, Nancy – I love embroidery as a pretty embellishment that can exude a strong cool factor. It’s so much nicer than something plain and simple (not that those don’t have their place in our wardrobes as important basics.) I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful good buys here! Thanks – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

Oops, I seem to have missed your post!
I do love embroidery, but there hardly any of it in my Winter wardrobe, unfortunately.
What a lovely parade of embroidered outfits, though! Aren’t Jodie’s boots amazing?
And yes, you should wear that dress more, it’s absolute perfection! xxx
