And with that blue dress also a blue jacket!

I always like to get involved in series provided by bloggers. As I do every month with the How I Wear My series from Adrienne and Jill. (Talking about such….I am very thrilled about a collaboration with the lovely Shelbee from Shelbee on the EdgeWe will kick off very soon!) And this month the theme is blue. I immediately thought of my blue dress that I have worn here . But I hadn’t worn it yet with this jacket, so for these series it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I love a monochrome outfit, but it has to have different textures. Otherwise I think it will be boring( says plain jane).

And what about my hair?

These photos were taken a few weeks ago. We then had an evening party of a friend who turned fifty. I had that day an appointment with my hairdresser and asked if she could do something nice with my hair for the party. Well, she certainly did! Since my fifteenth I have been somewhat struggling with my hair. I am often not happy with the color or the lenght or whatever. My hair is very thick and dry. If it is not cut right, I can do nothing with it. I had a lot of hairdressers in the past years. Since two years I found the perfect hairdresser for me. She cuts perfectly and always advice me for the color. The last time I was colored and cut, she was on maternity leave and I had another hairdresser. I told her how to cut my hair and to take a good look at my hair for the color( in autumn I wanted my hair a little bit more red, but because my hair is so dry, the color runs very quickly so red is a no go for me, I know now). She said: I am a hairdresser for over twenty years now, so I probably know how to cut. And I thought, okay, I should have a bit of faith. No! Stupid of course! If it takes 35 years to find the perfect hairdresser then it is obvious that another one doesn’t cut your hair the right way! Or colour it perfectly! She had cut the layers to short and cut my hair in a point on the back. Yeah, great idea whit dry hair! Didn’t learn that in 20 years right! And she colored it with a bit of red while my hair was already quite becomming orange. And there was also a strand of hair which she had forgotten, it was longer then the rest. I was very glad that my own hairdresser was back this time. She cut the layers in the right way and we decided to use a cooler color. And now I am happy again.

Me and my blue dress.

I love this dress, it’s  an easy dress. It has no zipper and it is very stretchy. I bought these boots especially for this dress. I don’t believe I have worn them with anything else….oh yeah here. I also love this jacket, it goes with anything. The scarf I knitted last year with the most simple stich. Nothing special. And I am wearing blue tights. I added a beautiful brooch of a bunch of grapes with Pearls and blue earrings. I mean, you wear a monochrome look or you don’t!

You look great in blue, Nancy! I love everything about this outfit. Are the boots new?

I didn’t think about the How I Wear My series until a few days ago and realized that I don’t have much blue. About 20 years ago, I wore a lot of blue and a friend told me to stop wearing so much blue. I guess I listened to her and stopped buying and wearing it all together. But seeing all the beautiful blue outfits makes me want to get some blue again…

Your hair looks great! And I hear you about finding the right hairdresser! Mine moved to a salon further away, but I still go to her as I trust her and won’t experiment…

Thanks for the link up & have a wonderful weekend!

    • February 10, 2017 / 9:01 am

Your hair looks magnificent Nancy!! I just love having my hair done for me—it always seems like it looks so much better than when I do it!
Your blue turned out fantastic!! And I didn’t know that you knitted?? How wonderful!! If you lived closer, you could come over to our knit day and knit with us!!

    • February 10, 2017 / 9:03 am

Hahaha, that would be fantastic! But I don t knit, I just made this one and that pink/gray one a few years ago to see if that made me relax a bit. I was then very stressed about my health. Now blogging does it for me!

  4. February 10, 2017 / 7:58 am

Nancy, you look beautiful in blue! And your hair looks fabulous! Your stylist did a great job! Isn’t it the best when you find the perfect hair stylist… Have a great weekend!

Today, at last, was the day of publication. I love this wonderful oufit that plays with the blue tones. And I love all the garments that make it up: the nice ethnic print dress, the frock coat, the scarf, the socks, the boots … A wonderful amalgam of blue tones that make up a nice, elegant and luminous look. I love the wonderful hairstyle, with so much volume and filigree. The jewel in the form of a cluster of pearls is cute.

Oh hair… I hate mine, and will hang on to my hairdresser for dear life. Your hair is a bit curly, right? Don’t you just hate it when they cut it the same way as straight hair? Too short, I mean, because when it dries and the curl suddenly makes it 3 cm shorter… When I first met my hairdresser, some 20 years ago, I gave her very ‘detailed instructions’ (her words), and she followed them. The way I see it, I’m the expert on my hair, I know every trick it can throw me, and I know a thing or two about haircuts, too (I grew up in a salon; my mother and her twin were both hairdressers and used to practice on me…)
Lovely blue outfit, by the way, the coat in particular.

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:33 am

Thank you! She knows now how much she can take of. I used to say: I want you to cut so little, that it stays on the scissors while cutting. That’s like 3mm. I hate it when they cut it to blund.

  16. February 10, 2017 / 4:03 pm

I am LOVING the blue on blue….one of my favorite colors. You look beautiful and your hair is gorgeous!! I think blue is “your” color!

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:33 am

      Thank you!

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:33 am

      Thanks 🙂

  17. February 10, 2017 / 4:13 pm

Lovely monochromatic look and your hair looks positively divine! I enjoyed reading your witty tale about your recent hairdresser experience. It is difficult to find someone who will listen to you and you trust.

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:34 am

Yes that is really difficult. Many hairdressers are so un interested.

  18. February 10, 2017 / 4:24 pm

Hey Nancy, this looks great on you, super dress and love your blue boots. I’m wanting so long boots but find it difficult to find long boots that fit me! Wide calves!!! How annoying they are. Jacqui

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:35 am

Yes, I hate that too. I have two pair that fit like gloves.

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:35 am

      Thank you very much.

  19. February 10, 2017 / 5:11 pm

      It is great right!

  20. February 10, 2017 / 5:49 pm

LOVE this all blue look, and your hair is gorgeous. I hear you on finding a good hairdresser. After many years, I found a lady that cut my hair perfectly – and then she moved away! So now I’m on the hunt again. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:37 am

Oh that’s awful. I hope you find a good one again!

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:37 am

      Thanks Gemma!

  21. February 10, 2017 / 6:11 pm

You absolutely rock this tone-on-tone blue look. The blazer is so chic. This entire outfit is polished with an urban city feel, Nancy. Loving your fancy hairdo, too. =)

    Enjoy the weekend my friend!

P.S. I’d love to have you co-host my Thursday linkup, sometime.

Your hair looks fabulous Nancy! I completely understand your loyalty to your hairdresser – mine lives near my mum’s house which is 130 miles from where I live but I won’t go to anyone else. She’s a mobile hairdresser so at least I can get my hair cut when I visit my mum. I love your military jacket, the whole outfit is wonderful.

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:41 am

Ha ha, that is some distance to travel for a haircut! And visit your mum of course 🙂

  24. February 10, 2017 / 8:58 pm

You’ve built this monochrome look beautifully! Or should I say “blue-tifully?” lol I love that you had your hair done up for the occasion too. I’ve only had my hair done a few times, but each time was a confidence boost and a lot of fun to rock a new style!

    <3 Liz

Ha ha that’s a fantastic word! Thank you love!

I love that blue dress, Nancy. And I also like the way you styled it with that cool jacket and the blue boots. Before even reading about your hairstyle, I knew that I wanted to compliment you on it. Gorgeous! I could totally relate to your experiences with hairstylists. I have the opposite of you: fine hair that tends to be oily, and people have also done the worst things to it like over bleaching or cutting layers in it. Isn’t it great when we finally find someone we can trust?!
    xo, janea

    • February 11, 2017 / 12:43 am

Yes, that is so important. When your hair isn’t how you want it, feels awful. I hate that. Happy weekend!

    • February 11, 2017 / 9:54 am

      Thank you!

  28. February 11, 2017 / 2:38 pm

Nancy, you nailed it! This monochrome look is filled with texture and style. I love everything about it, from the dress, hose and boots, to the jacket, scarf and brooch! And your hair is simply beautiful. Love this look, pretty lady! – Amy

  29. February 11, 2017 / 9:27 pm

No, I do not love a blue dress with blue boots. In fact, I don’t love blue very much at all, Nancy, BUT the colour suits you so beautifully. You look really good 🙂

    • February 11, 2017 / 9:37 pm

Thank you Sheela, that’s very nice of you although you don’t like the color. Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you! Yes, I fell in love with her gloves immediately!

  33. February 12, 2017 / 5:34 pm

This is a very good outfit. The dress fits perfectly and so does the jacket. I think it is very difficult to find the right jacket with a dress, so I admire you for this ensemble. Without the scarf it is even better, nothing to distract from the lovely items. Well done Nancy.
And your hair does look stunning. (I totally agree about finding the right hairdresser)

    • February 12, 2017 / 6:07 pm

Thank you very much Greetje! I agree on the scarf!
