Black, white and cobalt is a nice threesome.

I’m wearing today a black and white dress with a touch of cobalt. And it is Fancy Friday and that means linkup time! Last week there were a lot of new bloggers that participated, thanks for that! I love to meet new bloggers and hope you also met bloggers you didn’t know yet! At the bottom of the post is were you can linkup for this week and the most clicked  is being featured.

Why is a dress so often seen as a festive garment?

When I was still working, in a trendy fashion store, many women came to us to buy a dress for a special occasion. Our store was known for the dresses! Usually we sold a jacket, clutch and accesories with the dress too. Often these women said that they probably would never wear the dress after the occasion because it would be to fancy. What a waste! Then you have this gorgious dress wich you never wear anymore! Why? We always showed the customer how they could wear the dress in a more casual way. My colleagues and me always wore clothes from the store and because we had to stand and walk all day, we always wore (in winter) boots without heel. That looks a lot more casual then high heeled shoes. And in summer you can wear flats or sneakers. A long or short cardigan also makes the look more casual. As simple as that. It’s all about how you look at the dress. You should not see it as a special occasion dress, it’s an item for each day!

Dress: sold out but here is where I bought it and worked!

Shoes: sold out, but these are from the same brand

I love dresses! It’s easy, one-stop dressing, just put it on and you’re good to go.
Love your black and white look, too, with a pop of colour,

  2. August 19, 2016 / 1:38 pm

Nancy, I love this dress and the cobalt is perfect with it! I have been dresses much more for everyday wear just because they make me feel pretty and feminine! And that’s what it is all about…getting dressed to make you feel great, right?! You are looking fabulous!

    • August 19, 2016 / 3:03 pm

Yes, you are right! And they are so easy! Thank you 🙂

    • August 19, 2016 / 3:03 pm

      Thank you Jaymie!

  3. August 19, 2016 / 2:43 pm

Such a pretty dress! I love that you added the blue to the black and white look!

And I totally agree that you can dress down a fancy dress and make it more casual. I never bought an item for a special occasion with the thought of only wearing it once! That seems just silly. Especially since “special occasion dresses” are often very expensive…

Thanks for the linkup & have a wonderful weekend, Nancy!

    • August 19, 2016 / 3:05 pm

Yes I agree with that. And there are so many beautiful adorable dresses!

  4. August 19, 2016 / 2:50 pm

What a pretty look. I agree that dresses can and should be worn for casual use. They’re too nice to use only for fancy occasions.

    • August 19, 2016 / 3:06 pm

I agree, but many woman see them as a fancy item. At least they do in the Netherlands!

Share my excitement over the 2nd installment of my collaboration with fab Los Angeles brand TOBI this week at the blog – I am sure you’ll love it as much as I did!

    Happy Friday!

I totally agree Nancy that we should wear our “good” dresses more than just for one event!! In fact I was just writing those same words for a post at the end of this month—-you’re one smart cookie!!
Love this combination—I think the belt is absolutely perfect with this!

    • August 19, 2016 / 5:24 pm

Ha ha, that’s a coincident! Also a bright red or pink belt would look great!,

  8. August 19, 2016 / 4:19 pm

This dress looks amazing on you. I know what you mean about how we should wear dresses more and not just for special occasions. I think it’s mostly a comfort issue for most people. Even if I were to wear that dress with sneakers, my body would still be uncomfortable in it and I would choose something else to wear shopping or whatever casual event I’m going to.

    • August 19, 2016 / 5:26 pm

Yes would you? I think dresses are so easy. You slip them on, shoes a bag and ready!

  9. August 19, 2016 / 4:23 pm

A great statement Nancy. I totally agree with you. Life is too short, and it’s great to walk out the door looking good and feeling great. I want to come and raid your wardrobe ! I love all your dresses ! Thank you for hosting x

    • August 19, 2016 / 5:26 pm

Ha ha, that’s a lovely comment. And that from such a classy lady! 🙂

  10. August 19, 2016 / 4:35 pm

Beautiful dress and the pops of cobalt are perfect! I Love wearing dresses and wear them often,so I don’t understand why women don’t wear them more often.

  11. August 19, 2016 / 5:09 pm

It’s true what you say about “special occasion” dresses. I’m trying to wear dresses more, but it’s hard to change my habits. Love the colour combo of your dress!

    • August 19, 2016 / 5:27 pm

      Thank you!

Thank you for sharing this brand with us! I will have to keep it in mind for when I visit the Netherlands this fall/winter. As you know, I always love anything dresses. This one in particular goes so well with those blue shoes!

    • August 20, 2016 / 10:16 am

      I’ll take you shopping!

    • August 20, 2016 / 8:11 pm

Oh you re not late! I am glad you are part of it!

  14. August 20, 2016 / 7:00 pm

What a beautiful dress and I love the pop of blue from your heels! I’ve never understood the idea of buying a dress you never plan to wear again, life’s too short for that! Clothes are meant to be enjoyed. If I need to buy a dress for an event then I always make sure it’s something I will wear again. Unless of course it’s a bridesmaid dress, because let’s be honest those really are a one time use. Lol

    xo, Jackie

    • August 20, 2016 / 8:13 pm

Okay, you re right about that! But only bridesmaid dresses!

    • August 21, 2016 / 11:39 pm

Hi Len, yes I think I’ll end up in your spam.

  16. August 21, 2016 / 11:22 pm

I’m a big fan of dresses! You’re right though, to some people a dress is always a special occasion garment. I wear them all the time though 😉 Love your combo with the cobalt blue details!
