THE BAD BUY BOOK SITTING SHOES!

The Bad Buy Book

Welcome to The Bad Buy Book Sitting Shoes!

The Bad Buy Book is a series hosted by Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy from Nancy’s Fashion Style. We wanted to establish together something fun and new. We both talked about our”Sitting Shoes” and so we came up with the idea for The Bad Buy Book.

We all do our best to look great in our outfits, choose the right accessories, the right makeup, the perfect shoes, and wait for the best light to shoot the most flattering outfit photos. And now we are asking you to show us the items you don’t feel your very best in. You know, those ,,Sitting Shoes”, that dress that is actually not quite your color, the skirt that is a size too small but the saleswoman said it looked amazing. We all own those items!  And while they may look fabulous, they don’t always feel fabulous! So we want you to show us your bad buys and tell us the story about them! What made you purchase the item?  And why do you dislike it now?  And why not share them with us?  We buy these things for a reason then hide them in the back of the closet.  Now it’s their turn to share the limelight.

,,Sitting Shoes”

This month’s theme is ,,Sitting Shoes”. You know those shoes that are absolutely adorable, complete stunners, to die for, those had-to-have-them shoes. The ones that were so perfect in the store but turned out to be the most uncomfortable, intolerable shoes ever. Those are the shoes that Shelbee and I like to call,,Sitting Shoes”.

The theme for April will be Trousers! Share your photos of those trousers that you thought were perfect but turned out to be too loose, too baggy, too long, too short, too staticky, too itchy, too hot, too thin…..or whatever the case may be!

You can send us your picture with a few words to: shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancybaten@upcmail.nl

The submission date is the first of April.

Well, let’s take a look now at your,,Sitting Shoes”!

I found these wedges on clearance for a great deal and thought they were so versatile with the nude color.  And I loved the cork texture of the thong.  I should have heeded the warning that there were SO many pairs of them left on clearance.  It is the worst shoe design ever.  A thong on a high wedge.  As your heel is lifted up by the wedge heel, the thong jams so hard in between your toes that you can’t walk ten feet without severe pain!  It is so obvious, yet I was so blinded by the “great deal”!

I bought these boots on-line this past December and when I first tried them on, the heel didn’t seem so high.  It wasn’t until we had to walk about a block from our townhouse to the location when this photo was taken that I realized that these boots were definitely “sitting shoes”

These red sandals were a great deal when I got them. And they were fine wearing them for the first hour. But after that, the straps dug into my foot too much!!

Needless to say, I just gave them away. And am on the hunt for another pair of red sandals—they go with everything!!

These boots are so beautiful! But they are true off boots! I can not walk on these, but because I find them so stylish I wear them when I need to go somewhere quickly. For an errand or when I have to go to work. At work they go out! But I have, in any case, stylishly arrived!

“I have a fabulous friend that bought me these boots as a total surprise. (Her name might be Shelbee). I couldn’t wait to wear them, and at the time I had no boots of this style or height. They were tough to get on, even though I have a narrow foot, and you have grab the mesh area to help ease them up. Unfortunately, they ripped the first time I wore them and after about 45 minutes, were extremely tough to walk in. They are loose at the leg, and all of the weight is on your toes. These are my fabulous, stylish, sittin’ boots.”

These pumps were a thrift store find that I was giddy over because they are real leather and were showing hardly any wear.  It turns out that they are not so comfortable for much walking even though the heel is somewhat moderate.  There is no cushioning in the insole so a pad may help but I haven’t try that yet.

Your host NancyThe Bad Buy Book Sitting ShoesI bought these years ago and also in brown and blue. All three are horrible to walk. They are simply painful. But so beautiful…sigh.

Thank you all for your contribution! We hope to see a lot of your worst trousers!

This is an interesting topic for an on-going series so maybe we need to start saving photos of outfits that didn’t work. Thank you for the feature and I’m on the hunt for photos of “bad buy trousers”.

I just published mine as well! Hopefully next month we get enough entries that we can split them between our posts so we don’t have the same exact ones! This was fun. I have to find some bad buy trousers now, too!

I love this post and can sooooo relate to it! Isn’t it heartbreaking to get some shoes because you fall in love with their beauty only to find out later that you simply can’t walk in them?

    Such a fun series!

I definitely have sitting boots (I even blogged about them), but somehow I didn’t get my act together to send a picture of them to you!

    • March 15, 2017 / 5:30 pm

Shame on you! You get a second chance with trousers next month!

  8. March 15, 2017 / 5:47 pm

A pair of mango pants bright red. The size I measured and what I got in were so different. They do not fit too small. And they were just so cute . And a pair of lucky brand sandals with metal seahorses on them. The leather digs into the toes…I fixed that with foam that you can buy to keep shoes from giving you blisters. A dress that while on line looked one way got it and it was totally different and see through!

    • March 15, 2017 / 6:47 pm

Oh you’ve got enough! Send us a picture of your worst trousers for next month!

  9. March 15, 2017 / 7:10 pm

Sometimes I buy shoes, just to look at. Is this weird?

    • March 15, 2017 / 9:45 pm

Ha ha, not for me! I do the same! It’s not a fetish btw!

Love this topic, we all have much to contribute! I can not wear any type of thongs, and that is a shame because theya re so comfy for most people, No flip flops for me. I agree with Shelbee, and oh those boots Nancy from NaNa, too bad. Yes the gorgeous boots are for sitting Rena, I will wear those type of heels only when I am driven to the fron door of a destination, I can walk to the bathroom and back and that is all.
But i do love to look at my siting shoes, so i concur with Yustsome, but i do wear them for small bursts.

    • March 15, 2017 / 10:57 pm

Awful isn’t it! Have you got a pair of bad trousers? Then you can join the April theme!

  12. March 16, 2017 / 2:16 pm

I definitely have some sitting shoes! There’s a pair of Louboutin Pigalle in Coral that kill my feet! It’s such a pain!

    • March 16, 2017 / 3:46 pm

Wow! You would have thought they would fit perfectly! It’s a shame that you didn’t show them at The Bad Buy Book!

  13. March 16, 2017 / 4:35 pm

Love this idea! And you’re right that we all own these pieces, though I’m trying to purge my closet and make more sensible choices. My best example of sitting shoes are a pair of 4.5″ stiletto pumps I bought in New Orleans after a few too many hurricane cocktails while on vacation. I couldn’t believe how “comfortable” they were, and they were super cute, so I had to have them. When I tried them on the next day, without the pain-relieving effects of rum, they were not so comfortable after all. Ha! I call them my “one block heels.” If we have to walk more than a block, I can’t wear them. Sigh.

This is a really fun post, and also reassuring to know that it’s not just me who buys shoes that I can’t walk in! When I was younger I used to put up with the pain but now I can’t tolerate uncomfortable shoes for long. Just as well it’s fashionable to wear trainers anywhere now!
