PINESTRIPED BOW BLOUSE WITH PUFF SLEEVES

Bow blouse on a pencil skirt

I love bow blouses, I have several see here and here. Today I show you my new pinestriped one. I already tried the print on print outfit here, today I wear lines on lines! Vertical and horizontal! You almost think I am crazy….. These kind of bow blouses are very trendy at the moment. The pinestriped ones with puff sleeves. I know I will proberbly like this one only this season. It’s a real fast fashion item to me. I know I am pushing a lot of fashion bloggers now. Because lot of you are really into thrifting and thinking of the environment. And believe me, I do too. I deal with my waste and environment very consiously. But fast fashion exist and I am part of that. So when I see a very trendy item, that I know I will like for only a few times, one season, I order it on a cheap site. I am not going for an expensive and good quality item then. And when I don’t like it anymore, it goes into the clothing container. This is such an item.

Very cheap bow blouse

Sometimes those cheap items can really surprise you. Like this bow blouse. It’s a very thin cotton, which is great for warmer days( and women in menopause!). And the fit is very good. I wanted to wear the blouse on a tight skirt and thought that it would look good on a striped skirt. I want to wear it also on my boyfriend jeans with heels! To give the outfit a smooth sporty look, I wear sneakers. Stylish but also a bit less serious! I wear simple black earrings and bracelets to remain in the same lines as the skirt. What do you think about my new garden chairs? I bought two of these retro chairs! Just love them.

FASHION OVER 50: ZIGZAG PRINT ON PLEATED SKIRT & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

And how should fashion over 50 look?

And do I look that different then I was when I was 20? Yes of course! Fashion over 50 is different then over 20. Just like everything else in your life, the way you dress yourself changes over the years. I once thought(in my twenties) that cycling for fun was awfull, I thought I would be in nightclubs dancing all night for the rest of my life, I never noticed the birds singing in spring when I was in my twenties! So yes, also the way I dress has changed. I don’t wear short skirts anymore, I don’t like to wear sleeveless anymore and I don’t like my dresses to tight anymore. But that doesn’t mean I now, at the age of 50, have to dress frumpy.  I still wear what I like! And today I like to wear a somewhat stuffy outfit!

Is a pleated skirt fashion over 50?

Well not necessarily, but today I wanted  to wear something a bit frumpy. Click here for more inspiration on pleated skirts. Not that I think it’s frumpy, I think this is a fanstastic outfit! I love it! I told you before here that I would show you how the sweater would look like with this skirt. But I liked the outfit so much that I decided to dedicate a hole post to it. So now I am hoping that you don’t sigh: Oh there she is again with that pleated skirt. I also showed you my blue pleated skirt. Haha. I also had already bought a pink one so I think you see me wearing the entire summer pleated skirts. I wore big earrings with it and a small pink belt. I wanted to wear my pink mules but the pink of the mule didn’t match the pink in the sweater.

SHOE TRENDS: UPCOMING SPRING ESSENTIALS

Shoe Trends: Upcoming Spring Essentials

Today I have Claire again as guest writer!

Remember that “Sex and the City” episode when Carrie was mugged? That was the episode where the probably the most iconic sentence was shouted: “Please sir, you can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and watch, but you can’t take my Manolo Blahniks!” There is something about shoes that make us women feel super powerful, especially if our feet are “dressed” in the trendiest pair. To help you and your feet feel happy, here is a list of shoe trends for spring 2017.

Sock boots

Balenciaga went crazy with these on latest fashion shows. We have seen Rihanna rock their leather-velvet navy blues, and we admired those lime green ones as well as those square antelope leather ones. Besides Balenciaga, brands like Valentino and Celine also embraced this vibe. Not only do these cool boots look incredibly futuristic, they are also made of top-quality materials, since they have to be skintight. Not to mention that they are also comfortable as hell! You can find them in a wide range of styles and, while wearing them, you will feel like you have 2 layers of skin on your legs – which believe it or not, feels great!shoe trends

Wear them with:

You can copy Rihanna’s style and rock them with a striped button-down shirt and a mini denim skirt. They also go great with baggy jeans and oversized tops or crop tops – basically, they go with almost anything.

Flatforms

The trend that we thought will never see the sunlight again managed to come back once more. Platform sneakers or flatforms are among us, probably to remind us of the fashion of the ‘80s. People either hate them or adore them. Brands like Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci etc. really embraced these, and you can now find them in literally any color and pattern. Silver or black ones with white stars are probably the most popular choice.SHOE TRENDS

Wear them with:

If you decide to buy these, go all the way and combine them with eighties-like garments such as leggings and one-shoulder T-shirts. You go girl!

Glittery slip-on shoes

It is simple – many of us just don’t enjoy heels. That’s why slip-on shoes or ballet pumps will always be here for us. They are a great option when you want to be trendy, but want to avoid heels. Not to mention that they also got a glittery update now, so you will definitely stand out.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Since they are so girly-like, they will go great with those cute day dresses every woman must have. Also, you are free to wear them with your blouse, jacket and skinny jeans if you love that cute, college-girl vibe.

Kitten heels

Kitten heels were never this popular and cool. Kitten heels are basically shoes with super short and slender heels (from 1.5 inches to 1.75 inches), which became popular thanks to Audrey Hepburn. Even though many girls think of them as “granny heels”, check out what famous designers had done to them, like Celine – with their straps and ties, Dior – with their logoed version, and Miu Miu with their transparent flower details.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Since they are super elegant, they go great with business attire, but since it is the year 2017, who can forbid you to rock them with your boyfriend jeans and a bold tank top?

Athletic inspired boots

From all of those athleisure combinations, this is something that just had to happen, even though we didn’t expect it. Dior and Versace decided to launch boxer-like boots that, surprisingly, look incredibly cool and versatile. Versace and Maison Martin Margiela also followed this vibe, and as far as we can see, they are going to stay among us for a while.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Again, since it is the year 2017, your options are limitless, but try sticking to minimalistic and monochrome outfits since these boots are already over the top.

That would be it. What do you think about these trends? Let us know in the comments.

GREEN FLATS UNDER DENIM & DENIM

Green flats for spring!

I love flats because they are so easy to walk on and look stylish with every outfit. I have them in all sorts of colors and each season I find a new pair. But I didn’t have green ones! How nice was it then when I was approached by FSJ shoes and was allowed to choose a pair of flats! Well, green ones please!

This site is fantastic! You can design your own unique shoe! You can choose from existing models and customize the heel, color etc,. Or you can mail a photo or drawing and completely specify how you want the shoe. How awesome is that! You can find here all information about designing your own shoes. Perhaps I might design my own shoes next time! Wink wink!

Denim & denim and lot’s of green!

I always found denim on denim hideous. Until I tried it here and actually liked it very much. This denim dress is one I often showed on the blog, but I love to wear my jacket on denim! It looks a bit like denim, but then green. The color of the jacket is one that you can wear on so many outfits, but I like it best on denim. When I was asked to choose a pair of shoe’s , I knew they had to be green. Because I just ordered a blue pleated skirt with a sage green sweater and I wanted to wear green shoes with it. The shoes and sweater I will show you later because they are a bit to much ,, spring” And I don’t want to show outfits that I am not able to wear in ,, real life”. When I bought the jacket, I also bought a mint green blouse to wear it with the jacket. I never wore the blouse because mint green as top piece is making me look very ill. So I am very glad that I now have mint green shoes to go with the jacket!jeans and green flatsdenim dress and green flatsgreen bracelets and green flatsgreen jacket and green flatsgreen earrings and green flatsshoes green flatsoutfit with green flats

SHEER BLOUSE AND BLACK TULLE SKIRT

A sheer blouse and black tulle skirt outfit for Ada

Because Ada gave a party for her first linkup birthday, we had to wear of course a festive outfit! And what could be more festive as a black tulle skirt? Festive, cheerful, feminine, a tulle skirt has it all.

I was actually planning on taking just one picture for Ada. But I liked the outfit so much that I decided to make more for my own blog too. First I thought of wearing red with the black tulle skirt, but I don’t like black and red together that much. And then I realized I wanted to wear a few corsages, that is festive. And the blouse with the gold hearts is too!

I wore the skirt before here and here. Even if a black tulle skirt does look a bit festive, you can wear it very well in a more casual way. I wore it often last season with a sweater and casual boots with a flat heel. The boots with gold stud bow are older. These boots are, I think, the only item I have ever bought on sale were I am happy with. I never find anything special on sale. Yesterday I saw on Instagram someone who bought a wrap blouse by Diane von Fürstenberg! Wow, unbelievable! That will never happen to me. By the way, speaking of Instagram: if you are not following me yet, please do so here!

WHAT WOULD YOU WEAR ON A FLORAL MIDI SKIRT?

Would you wear a print on a floral skirt?

No, not me of course! I’m not there yet! But would you? I have seen a lot of you mixing prints and styles together and it’s often amazing. I did it in my blogging life once here and I thought it looked very well. In fact, I have worn this many times on other skirts. But let’s take this skirt for eample. I personally feel that if you wear a top in a color that reflects also in the skirt, then it enchances the colors and the print of the skirt. Well I must say that I very much love order. All in one convenient place, all clear, tidy. You know what I mean? So to wear any other color that is not in the skirt, or to add a print feels messy. Okay, are there already some of you who think: she’s not in her right mind! Probably. I found here a nice explanation of how to mix prints. Now I think to myself, okay, maybe a striped sweater? Here are a few ideas of mixing prints.

But I really want to hear from you what you think I should wear on this skirt. Because I have quite a bit of these skirts, and I am really fond of them, but I also think it should be more exciting. I show you another time what I have done with your tips and how I wear the skirt now.

How did I wear my floral skirt.

Well, plain, borring! This is an outfit that I wear often, or something simular, as we go for a walk. Going for a walk means for us that Gerben is walking and I am in the wheelchair. And do you know what is really ridiculous? I don’t want to look stylish while sitting in the weelchair. It feels to me like it’s not appropriate or something like that. I hate it because I want to look stylish! I’m afraid I have to work on that. But well, walking and don’t want to look stylish…I said years ago, when I have to be in a wheelchair I can finally wear high heels again because I then don’t have to walk anyway. Yeah, see what I am wearing!

I love these wide floral scuba midi skirts. I love the colors and the print and scuba is wonderful. It’s so light and it doesn’t wrinkle. I wear a warm sweater, because it was freezing here, with ruffled sleeves and boots with a flat heel. So these are boots that I wear when I do my groceries and it’s raining or there is snow or something like that. And when I am in the weelchair. I wear an elastic belt with tulle flowers on it. In itself, if you think the boots away, ther is nothing wrong with the outfit, but just as I said, it can be more exciting. Of course with an heeled ankle boot, or wedges, but let me know what you think I should wear on a skirt like this!
