FLORAL WRAP BLOUSE, LEATHER PENCIL SKIRT- FASHION

Leather pencilskirt and floral wrap blouse.

What a perfect combination! I adore leather pencil skirts. They are so feminine but also so very cool! And you know by now that I love everything that is wrapped! Especially a floral wrap blouse. So this, to me, is a perfect combination! I haven’t worn this skirt for a long time and in my mind it was actually a bit longer. Or I wore it a bit lower….mmmm….anyway, we have scheduled a few days off in April. We are staying in Hastings. Oh how I am looking forward to that. To visit Brighton, eat fish&chips on the beach, go to Seven Sisters. I love it there! This year we have planned to go to the UK three times. For those who don’t know, I have a rare lung dissease and cant’t fly anymore. When we did, we always went once or twice a year to the UK and once to Ibiza. So now we always go to Sussex. If we were twenty years younger, we probably would have moved to the UK.

Floral wrap blouse in spring.

I am not a huge colorful person, in what I am wearing I mean. Although I am much more colorful than I’ve ever been. But since it isn’t summer yet, I stay away from very bright colors just yet. This floral wrap blouse is therefore, I think, ideal for spring. A happy floral print with some darker colors! I am wearing simple gold jewelry with the outfit. I think it fits nicely with the brown golden flowers in the print. So, do you like to wear leather skirts? And if you do, do you prefer a wider model or do you also love a pencilskirt? Let me know in your comments!

Btw, don’t forget to send Shelbee and me pictures of your worst trousers so that we can put you and your trousers in the limelight for the  next The Bad Buy Book series!

my outfit in pleated skirt with knitted sweater

I want to wear my pleated skirt every day!

Well, not really though. And I know you have seen this skirt before here and here. And I love it styled like today the best! With the pink details, gray and pink compliment each other so well. I was just browsing the internet to see whether the pleated skirt trend continues into Spring. I actually regret that I have not bought a metallic pleated skirt this season, and now it feels like to late. But if they are still trendy next season, I will buy another one. In a spring color or a beautiful print. Vogue and Elle don’t mention the pleated skirt at all and so don’t the leading designers but…….drum roll……check this one! New collection! I can totally see myself wearing this one with a red top! Super cool!

Back to today’s pleated skirt.

I love this sweater. I find the color beautiful, you have to watch out that you don’t wear a tint of gray that makes your skin looks the same color! This is a warmer shade of gray. This sweater is a bit crotched and a bit knitted, love the casual look of it. I never wear two shades of gray, but I think it works in this outfit pretty nice, also because I added a bit of pink in it. A very bright color could also work perfectly. Now that I have discovered that wearing socks in open shoes looks nice(in my eyes), I wear it very often. The pink strap has a cute bow detail and the kitschy charm bracelet looks lovely with this outfit. The suède bag with fringe and studs is old but remains trendy!

I wear the scarf and the glooves just for the pictures because they are pink and gray. The scarf I knitted last year, I wanted to find out whether I liked to do that. I never wear it, it isn’t that nice. But to knit was quite relaxing, of course I only know one stitch, the most simple one! But for someone who can relax bad, it is quite fun to do. For a while, I get bored real quickly.pink and gray scarf in pleated skirtpink peeptoes in pleated skirtgray bag in pleated skirtpink bracelet in pleated skirtpink belt in pleated skirtbow belt in pleated skirtgray pleated skirtpink peeptoes in pleated skirtknit wear in pleated skirtknitted sweater in pleated skirt

TALKING JEWELRY & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Talking jewelry on a Fancy Friday.

This post is made in collaboration with Invaluable. I did not get paid and there was nothing gifted to me(sadly). But I love auctions and vintage jewelry.

Today I wanted to talk about how jewelry styles change with the seasons. Winter jewelry styles different a lot from jewelry you will wear in the summer. For the most part, winter jewelry is seen as more bold and a counterpoint to summer jewelry which is more relaxed. Winter jewelry is usually focused on making a statement, since most of the winter colors are darker. Summer jewelry, on the other hand, can be more form fitting and suggestively accentuating the outfit rather than standing out.jewelry

I got the ideas for this piece from this article by Invaluable called Jewelry Styles for Winter. They have some ideas I agree with but I definitely have some of my own. Invaluable sells vintage jewelry pieces so definitely check them out even just to browse. They have some cool stuff. Take a look at the brooches! I am a big fan of brooches lately and they offer some great ones ( lovely ones with dogs and cats) starting fron $1!jewelry

One thing I agree with Invaluable about is that using cocktail rings to bring color and flair to a dreary winter outfit can be a great option. If you’re wearing grey and black for the most part, that beautiful gemstone will really stand out and attract attention. It’s not an everyday piece though, save it for special events.jewelry

I personally like the look of matching diamonds to an all white outfit. It’s a very sleek and elegant look, and the diamonds simply blend better into a white outfit than black. The black fur with diamonds look is so 1950s. Another tip I have is matching jewelry to accent pieces in the outfit. So if you’re wearing a gold scarf, it might be the time to wear that gold ring. The two will stand out well with grey, black, or navy tones in the rest of the outfit. But you all know that I don’t wear much jewelry. But to save up for a unique ring and buying it on an auction is a great idea. Gerben likes watches. Expensive watches that is…. And he has a Omega  for years now. So also when you want to surprise your other half check this out!jewelry

BLACK SKATER/WRAP DRESS CASUAL WAY

A skater/wrap dress for the holidays.

I love skater/wrap dresses. Also wrap skirts and simply wraps! Haha, as long as there is food involved it’s fine by me. Talking about food, I just received a cookbook that I had won. And oh my, there are fabulous recipes in it. It’s about cooking without ready-made sauces and marinades. I don’t like ready-made stuff. Okay back to the dress. This is called a skater dress, but to me it’s more a wrap dress. When I saw this one I knew I had to have it. Sigh, don’t I always… I love bows and lately, like I had said last week, I like wider dresses. The downside to this dress, and actually that of last week too, is that the skirt is very wide. Have you got any idea how long it takes to iron it! And if there is one thing I hate to do, it’s ironing.

Who what where skater/wrap dress.

The wrapdress has actually become very famous by Diane von Fürstenberg. But she was not the first who designed the wrap dress. The design originates from the thirties, again from the sportsworld like the skater dress from last week. In the early seventies Diane von Fürstenberg designed a knee-long model with elastic waist and that dress became so popular that she is known as the designer of the wrap dress. And she designed beautiful dresses!

I find a wrap dress always very feminine. And it also has always a V-neck! Yeah! But I have styled it today in a casual way. With a denim jacket, which is always good to wear on a dress, and cognac boots. This is really going to be a dress I will wear very often. I had on Friday said that these pictures would also not be very good. But I hope you can see the brooche a bit. What a nice one huh. I believe I spend 1 euro on it. Crazy right! Because after my purchase of a dragonfly brooche in England in an antique shop, I just order them online. I told this before, but I bought a dragonfly brooche last May in Hastings and I lost it. So when I went back in September I wanted to buy another one in the same store. And there were three of the same dragonfly lying there! And I thought it would be authentic! I bought the same one and when I , a few months later, was browsing for brooches onlin, guess what: my dragonfly was online on a Chinese site! No more antique stores for me! Lol. I bought several lately, an owl, grapes , I love them. Fortunately next weekend it becomes slightly warmer, making photographs of dresses while freezing outside is not my idea of fun!
