STYLED BY………. AMANDA

Styled by…….

Styled by…..tells the story behind someones style. What does a person tell by the way she or he is dressed?  What does it say about their personality? When did they began to create their own style? The series is published every first Tuesday of the month.

This month Amanda tells her style story!

Styled by………Amanda!

When I think back, I wore an absolute mother-mixed-up-style, which may be understood as how I wore what my mother picked up for me, which didn’t have a very defined nor clear style, nor cohesion at all. Instead, the clothing I wore when I was 14 had to endure many different activities: school, after school trainings, starting a bit of social life and events (weddings, baptisms, friends’ birthday’s parties…) so, when the event was formal I would be dressed as a super cute girl and, instead, when I went to the sports trainings in the evenings, everything would be super baggy and boyish. It was an absolute mess! Though time I think I’ve got to develop my own, balanced style.Styled By.....AmandaStyled By.....AmandaAlthough I may be one of the most organized person you’d ever meet, it’s still a real struggle for me to put some order into anything related to define myself, tell others what I do or even describe my style. So, let’s start at the beginning: I am simply a 23year-old woman about to end her degree in Architecture, Design and & Urban Planning who was born and raised in a medium-sized city near the Mediterranean Sea called Valencia (which is the third biggest city in Spain).
I think my style goes along pretty well with what I’m studying: I have total predilection for minimal pieces, which I always put together playing with volumes, textures and complementing shapes.Styled By.....AmandaI spend long hours at the Architecture School doing team presentations and tasks, so my outfits not only have to be chic and neat according to what’s expected from a young architect to look like: everything I wear has to be comfortable and endure the different situations I must go through the day until I arrive home pretty late at night. I would say my style is quite classy and timeless, but I also like to add pieces and details that fit my yet young age and endless vitality I have, specially when it’s about running from point A to point B in just a couple of hours.Styled By.....AmandaStyled By.....AmandaI wouldn’t say my style had a clear starting point, but it went through a significant push when I first started writing Something Fashion. I’ve been always encouraged to dress accordingly to every situation and event at home, and since a very young age. But, since Something Fashion meant not only my definitive immersion to the world of fashion, but also my growth from teenage to young adult; having my own fashion blog translated into more experimentation and freedom to develop my personal style, always keeping in mind those basics I would’ve heard from my closest ones.Styled By.....AmandaStyled By.....AmandaI don’t think I have a clear reference when it comes to clothing and putting together my daily outfits: I’m always looking at different sources not always directly related to fashion, but also architecture, product design, paintings, TV shows and many more. I’m influenced with clear lines, plain colours and basic patterns and everything that’s inherently beautiful. I think that’s the true amazing side of fashion: it draws from many different sources and is a faithful portrait of culture, history and society. For me, what’s most fascinating is that fashion has the power to help us exteriorize our best selves and tell the others who we really are without any word exchange in just an eye blink.Styled By.....AmandaStyled By.....AmandaThanks to Nancy for having me at Nancy’s Fashion Style and her section “Styled by”. It’s been a pleasure to meet such a charming lady who loves to share and inspire others through her daily outfits and sense of fashion.

Well, thank you for these kind words Amanda! It was a pleasure having you here. You can find Amanda’s blog here!

Do you also have a story to tell, and do you also have beautiful pictures of your style evolution? I, and many of my readers, want to read your story! I would love it if you can join the fun too! You can find all the info in the Styled by…..page or contact me via email.

FLORAL WRAP DRESS

Always feeling happy in a floral wrap dress

We are back a week from a short vacation to England. I will not bore you with the pictures because they are always the same. We love England and especially Sussex, and we went there for the I don’t know how many time! We had fantastic weather and spend a lot of time at the beach. And we always go to Brighton. Really a great city! So now our 25-year anniversary party is been( I write a post about that) and the holiday is over, it’s back to real life again. Fortunately, we still have great weather here in the Netherlands, so we can eat outside every night and stay outside till bedtime. I think that is so relaxing. When we got home there were a lot of packages that need to be unpacked, tried on and be photographed. Enough to do! I still remeber writing a post a while ago about how fun it seemed to be working with bloggers and companies. I also know I was complaining a little. Because it seemed like everyone had fun collaborations except for me! Now I really have to plan wich package and company comes first etc. How crazy is that! And….more important! I now have such a nice collaboration with Shelbee! Our Bad Buy Book series! I love it dear Shelbee. But one of the packages that was ready for me was this amazing floral wrap dress.

Floral wrap dress

I am already fond of dresses but especially wrap dresses. And after all the happy floral and pink and red outfits of the last weeks, I also like to wear a black dress again. But all black seemed to sober for a dress in this season. I wear very little orange but this dress has it combined with brown and I think that is very nice. Color, but still understated. The fun part of the dress is the high low hem line. I love that. I didn’t see it when I ordered the dress. An extra bonus! Btw, I later remembered I wore this shirtdress last year in orange and pink. Forgot all about it. And wearing the same shoes. I wore it right away yesterday!fashionable floral wrap dressfashion over 50 floral wrap dressdresses in floral wrap dressoutfit floral wrap dressfloral wrap dressfashion over 40 floral wrap dressbrown shoes and floral wrap dressfashion floral wrap dress

FLORAL SUMMER DRESS IN PINK & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Pink floral summer dress

I have never had such a fleeting wardrobe as at the present. It seems to be full with floral summer dresses! And I keep coming back to pink and floral dresses. This one is also one of my favorites of this season. It’s colorful and elegant and it reminds me of England. You know, cottages, floral wallpaper, pink, Laura Ashley. I love it. This dress was also a tryout because I wanted to find out if overseas ordering works for me. And it does. That increases the choice in clothes a lot more. As if we already havn’t got enough choice!

Pink floral dress styled with pink

I can wear this dress in so many ways. With white sneakers and a denim jacket, or a black cardigan and flats. But today I want to show it a bit more elegant with my favorite shoes and a blazer. All in pink tones. I’ve been looking for a shorter cardigan in dark pink( enough in blush) for a while now and do you think I can find it! No! But I don’t give up. I think a short cardigan would show of the dress a bit more and show the waistline. That is better. I know I will find that cardigan!

Are you into pink floral dresses this season?

SUMMER DRESS WITH BUTTERFLIES & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Do you also love  a summer dress with butterflies?

I love butterflies. Fortunately we have a garden where there are always many in the summer. Bright yellow ones, white ones, blue ones, all sorts of butterflies. They always look so peaceful and kind. When I am reading in my garden in the sun there is always one butterfly landing on my feet. Haha, that tickles. But I don’t have any jewelry or tee’s or blouses with a butterfly print. So when I encountered this dress, while I was still discovering sites for fabulous dresses, I immediately knew this one was meant for me!

Overseas order a gamble?

I have been able to choose several dresses lately and I ordered three myself through overseas sites. And they didn’t disappoint me at all. This one even couldn’t be any better. I had measured my measurements well, but it’s still  a gamble if the fabric and the colors are okay. And returning could be such a hassle overseas, and expensive. But this summer dress with butterflies is really fantastic. The colors are just as in the picture, the fabric is very soft and the fit is just perfect. I was really exited about it. I am wearing red with it because that uplifts the dress even more. Cobalt blue would be an option too!outfit summer dress with butterfliesfashionabble in summer dress with butterfliesfashion over 50 summer dress with butterfliesfabulous over 40 summer dress with butterfliesred shoes summer dress with butterflieswomenswear summer dress with butterfliesfashion summer dress with butterfliesfashionblogger summer dress wiyh butterflies

SHOE TRENDS: UPCOMING SPRING ESSENTIALS

Shoe Trends: Upcoming Spring Essentials

Today I have Claire again as guest writer!

Remember that “Sex and the City” episode when Carrie was mugged? That was the episode where the probably the most iconic sentence was shouted: “Please sir, you can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and watch, but you can’t take my Manolo Blahniks!” There is something about shoes that make us women feel super powerful, especially if our feet are “dressed” in the trendiest pair. To help you and your feet feel happy, here is a list of shoe trends for spring 2017.

Sock boots

Balenciaga went crazy with these on latest fashion shows. We have seen Rihanna rock their leather-velvet navy blues, and we admired those lime green ones as well as those square antelope leather ones. Besides Balenciaga, brands like Valentino and Celine also embraced this vibe. Not only do these cool boots look incredibly futuristic, they are also made of top-quality materials, since they have to be skintight. Not to mention that they are also comfortable as hell! You can find them in a wide range of styles and, while wearing them, you will feel like you have 2 layers of skin on your legs – which believe it or not, feels great!shoe trends

Wear them with:

You can copy Rihanna’s style and rock them with a striped button-down shirt and a mini denim skirt. They also go great with baggy jeans and oversized tops or crop tops – basically, they go with almost anything.

Flatforms

The trend that we thought will never see the sunlight again managed to come back once more. Platform sneakers or flatforms are among us, probably to remind us of the fashion of the ‘80s. People either hate them or adore them. Brands like Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci etc. really embraced these, and you can now find them in literally any color and pattern. Silver or black ones with white stars are probably the most popular choice.SHOE TRENDS

Wear them with:

If you decide to buy these, go all the way and combine them with eighties-like garments such as leggings and one-shoulder T-shirts. You go girl!

Glittery slip-on shoes

It is simple – many of us just don’t enjoy heels. That’s why slip-on shoes or ballet pumps will always be here for us. They are a great option when you want to be trendy, but want to avoid heels. Not to mention that they also got a glittery update now, so you will definitely stand out.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Since they are so girly-like, they will go great with those cute day dresses every woman must have. Also, you are free to wear them with your blouse, jacket and skinny jeans if you love that cute, college-girl vibe.

Kitten heels

Kitten heels were never this popular and cool. Kitten heels are basically shoes with super short and slender heels (from 1.5 inches to 1.75 inches), which became popular thanks to Audrey Hepburn. Even though many girls think of them as “granny heels”, check out what famous designers had done to them, like Celine – with their straps and ties, Dior – with their logoed version, and Miu Miu with their transparent flower details.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Since they are super elegant, they go great with business attire, but since it is the year 2017, who can forbid you to rock them with your boyfriend jeans and a bold tank top?

Athletic inspired boots

From all of those athleisure combinations, this is something that just had to happen, even though we didn’t expect it. Dior and Versace decided to launch boxer-like boots that, surprisingly, look incredibly cool and versatile. Versace and Maison Martin Margiela also followed this vibe, and as far as we can see, they are going to stay among us for a while.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Again, since it is the year 2017, your options are limitless, but try sticking to minimalistic and monochrome outfits since these boots are already over the top.

That would be it. What do you think about these trends? Let us know in the comments.
