PREPPY LOOK WITH FISHNET TIGHTS & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

How to look preppy with fishnet tights

When I was in my adolescence fishnet tights were especially popular with punks, torn of course. In the eighties it was much worn with the secretary look, think pencilskirt and matching blazer. I’ve done both! Except for the torn part. I hadn’t worn fishnet tights for years, actually because when I wear tights it must be cold. I will stay bare legged as long as possible. And I don’t always want to wear two tights. I have done here. Normally I don’t wear tights under trousers, but I could not find fishnet knee socks. I already had a hard time finding these.

As I have said here, I love this lenght trousers. This black one I wear preferably with a tight black turtleneck sweater and ankle boots. Very simple, and in my opinion quite stylish. A few weeks ago, when we took these photos, it was so terribly cold that I wanted to wear a lot of layers. A basic shirt, this blouse and a V-neck sweater. The snakeprint bracelet is a gift to myself from Ibiza, from years ago. I love a bit edgy ness with a preppy look! I don’t often wear pants, but when I do I like it this way!

TALKING JEWELRY & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Talking jewelry on a Fancy Friday.

This post is made in collaboration with Invaluable. I did not get paid and there was nothing gifted to me(sadly). But I love auctions and vintage jewelry.

Today I wanted to talk about how jewelry styles change with the seasons. Winter jewelry styles different a lot from jewelry you will wear in the summer. For the most part, winter jewelry is seen as more bold and a counterpoint to summer jewelry which is more relaxed. Winter jewelry is usually focused on making a statement, since most of the winter colors are darker. Summer jewelry, on the other hand, can be more form fitting and suggestively accentuating the outfit rather than standing out.jewelry

I got the ideas for this piece from this article by Invaluable called Jewelry Styles for Winter. They have some ideas I agree with but I definitely have some of my own. Invaluable sells vintage jewelry pieces so definitely check them out even just to browse. They have some cool stuff. Take a look at the brooches! I am a big fan of brooches lately and they offer some great ones ( lovely ones with dogs and cats) starting fron $1!jewelry

One thing I agree with Invaluable about is that using cocktail rings to bring color and flair to a dreary winter outfit can be a great option. If you’re wearing grey and black for the most part, that beautiful gemstone will really stand out and attract attention. It’s not an everyday piece though, save it for special events.jewelry

I personally like the look of matching diamonds to an all white outfit. It’s a very sleek and elegant look, and the diamonds simply blend better into a white outfit than black. The black fur with diamonds look is so 1950s. Another tip I have is matching jewelry to accent pieces in the outfit. So if you’re wearing a gold scarf, it might be the time to wear that gold ring. The two will stand out well with grey, black, or navy tones in the rest of the outfit. But you all know that I don’t wear much jewelry. But to save up for a unique ring and buying it on an auction is a great idea. Gerben likes watches. Expensive watches that is…. And he has a Omega  for years now. So also when you want to surprise your other half check this out!jewelry

So what do you do, readers? Let’s hear your favorite jewelry and outfit pairings in the comments!

LOOKING BACK AT 2016 & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

The last Fancy Friday of the year! Let’s make it the best!

Looking back at 2016

I had actually planned for today another post, but I thought it would be nice to have a moment to look back on 2016. Not only on blogging area but simply about everything. I got the idea when I wanted to see how my blog looked like a year ago and read the post of the same day a year ago. I remembered I was very disappointed in my social life and that I wanted to change that in 2016. What I did was just let go…..letting go of friendships that don’t bring you anything, only sucking the energy out of me. And suddenly new friendships were made, as if I was more open to it( I think). I was not sick in 2016……at least not for a week ago! I got very sick last week but I feel much better now and my lungs weren’t affected so I was very happy! Further I’m somewhat deteriorated, my energy is less and less, but I can cope better with it. We went twice to the UK and the second time twice as long as normal. England is a real treat for us, we love it there. We can’t wait to go again. We had some great weekend trips and nothing really bad happened with our family and friends. But the highlight for me was the concert of The Cure. Like if I was in a daze the whole time.

And what has changed with the blog?

Well actually a lot! Here is the post from the same day last year. I still love the outfit, but the pictures were taken by phone and this was the free wordpress site and I had never heard of SEO. Pity that I can’t see anymore how many visitors I had back then. I also didn’t host the Fancy Friday linkup yet. That started here. My goal was to have 100 linkups per week by the end of the year. That did not happen, the highest was 87. But I am secretly quite a bit proud. In April I switched to a self-hosted site and I learned so much more! You should know that before I  started blogging, I had never worked with a computer. Yes, I could send e-mails but that was it. Before I started the free blog, I went to a four night course about blogging and the rest I figured out all by myself. And I  am very happy and proud of my little playground! And now I must see if I can articulate a good sense because I don’t want to sound so cliché. I find it incredibly amazing that I have so many loyal readers around the world. Thank you for reading, participating and commenting! Awesome!

I wish you all  a very nice New Year’s Eve!

WINACTIE & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Today I have a winactie!

I can hear my foreign readers thinking: what is that word? Well that means giveaway in Dutch. But unfortunately it is only valid in the Netherlands and Belgium. So today no story for you, I’m sorry. On the other hand, you can now go straight to the linkup and save time! Good eh!

Succes!

Happy weekend everyone!

GIVEAWAY! & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

My first giveaway!

Well, if I were you I would certainly today take the trouble to join the Fancy Friday linkup! Because I have a great gift to give away if you do! So, linkup your picture at the bottom of the post!

Leopard print bracelet for a giveaway!

I don’t know about you , but if there is something I totally am thrilled about this season, it’s the leopard print. No matter what it is, from bracelets, earrings, blouses, scarves and underwear, I just love it all. So when I saw this bracelet at Lizzy O I wanted it. So I ordered and three weeks later I hadn’t received it yet. The distance between England and the Netherlands isn’t that big so I decided to mail that I didn’t receive anything yet. I got a mail back that they would sent another one. The next day, you already guessed it, the bracelet was in the mailbox! I emailed immediately to say that I had gotten it but they already sent another. I said I would send it back, but they told me to keep both. There was no need to sent the other one back! How nice is that!

A gift to giveaway!

And now I can keep it to myself, but I am not a Caterpillar never enough……oh yes I was….no, I am giving it away! But of course you have to do something for it!

Firstly anyone can win! From everywhere! Secondly you need to join the Fancy Friday linkup and share your linkup on your Facebook or Twitter account. It would be very nice if you would thank Elizabeth from What Lizzy Loves by following her on Instagram as the bracelet comes from her shop. And I would love it if you would follow my Instagram too. Please leave a comment if you want to participate in the linkup but don’t want the bracelet. Even if you linkup more then once, you only  make a chance to win once! Next Sunday I’ll draw a winner!

FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP LET’S HIT 100!

Fancy Friday linkup!

Wow, last week I was almost reached my goal of 100 linkups. There were 93! Amazing! We’re almost there, give it an extra push all together! Love you all for being so loyal!

Whining about nothing!

I had a real bad day yesterday. You know, an off day without a good reason. When I woke up there was nothing wrong, went sporting, everything was just fine. I had nothing else stand all afternoon and felt like an afternoon working on the blog. So I install myself in front of the laptop with some food and drinks, changed in something comfortable and get going. First answering the mail and then check all the blogs on new posts. And there it started. One after the other blogger was involved in nice collaborations with other bloggers and those who weren’t had great collaborations with interesting brands! Headache started to come and I got more and more frustrated. By the time I had checked all the blogposts and see who actually do not comment on my blog, I felt very said and insignificant, especially insignificant.

Why I let it be so important.

Why I let that affect me by others? Why is it so important to me that others respond to me, that others want to work with me, that I also get offers from businesses? At one point I was so sick of myself that I turned off the laptop and started cleaning up, emptied the dishwasher and played with the cats for a while. I said to myself: what a childish bitch you are! Just be happy for those bloggers! And what was I to complain anyway. I started blogging because I love to write and fashion is my passion. Is it not Nancy! Or do you let yourself influence suddenly by numbers? Oh no girl! Zen!

I never really had much confidence. Although since I found the niche in blogging and I better learn to accept my situation it’s getting better. But very rarely, I was unconsciously tired or something, I get influenced so that the confidence is crumbling a bit. It’s all human. I for one am already so far that I recognize it and end it. I can kick my ass and say: move on! I do things in my own way and that is a way I feel comfortable with. And I am proud of that!
