FITTED BLOUSE WITH SHOULDER PADS & JACQUARD WOVEN TROUSERS & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

A blouse with shoulder pads…how do you feel about that?

I was actually happily surprised when I was wearing this blouse. I did not notice the shoulder pads when I ordered this one. I mean, when I see a trend for the second time mostly it doesn’t make me happy. Click here for some collections with shoulder pads. But it is elegant, stylish and gives the blouse a little more swoomph! But I think that if you’re wider in the shoulders, you don’t want them in your closet. Just like I don’t want straight trousers because I have no buttocks and thin legs. I look like an idiot whenever I try those trousers.

What about green and beige?

Beige is normally a color that I should not wear on the upper half. But this blouse with shoulder pads comes only in this color, I had to make a sacrifice. I loved it to much! The blouse has brackets on the front, just like a corset. And what about the trousers. I said it before, I don’t like trousers that much but with this one I just felt for the color. I’m not quite happy with the design of the trousers because it is a bit wider. And it also has got a high waist with folds, so it looks like you have eaten everything on the menu at the sushi restaurant.(which I could!) But it’s the color… A beautiful shade of green with a woven leaf print. I look like a wood, a wood in fall! Haha, I even matched my earrings!blouse with shoulder padsblouse with shoulder padsblouse with shoulder padsblouse with shoulder padsblouse with shoulder padsblouse with shoulder padsblouse with shoulder padsblouse with shoulder padsBlouse: here

SWING DRESS WITH FLORAL PRINT & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Happy in my swing dress

I actually bought this swing dress for our 25th anniversary party, but when I was at the fashion show I decided to buy that skirt for the party. I think that it’s because my body is changing(read I am right in the middle of menopause) that I wear more wider clothes this season then before. A few years ago you could draw me out in pencilskirts and bodycon dresses. But I don’t feel comfortable in that anymore. First because my belly isn’t flat anymore and second because I think shapewear is awfull. I know I will surrender…..but not yet!

A black floral swing dress

This dress is made of cotton but the body is very stretchy what makes it very comfortable to wear. Because of the cotton, the skirt remains so wide, which is actually the intention of a swing dress. I wanted a brighter pink cardigan on this dress, but as I told you here, I seem to have a lot of problems finding perfect cardigans for dresses! Pffff. But this one looks good too, a brighter one would have taken the attention of the dress a bit more, so this one is proberbly better. The bracelets, or actually necklaces, are from the boulevard in Brighton. One of my favorite places to visit whenever we are in th UK. The espadrilles I really love. It’s wearing a high heel and you don’t feel it! Fantastic. And the green combines with so many dresses and skirts. I’ve been lucky enough to find nice shoes this season. Most of the time I don’t like summer shoes that much. I buy a lot of sandals, to settle for it, and then afterwards I don’t like them at all or they hurt a lot or whatever.(fantastic for our next Bad Buy Book theme! btw, please don’t forget to send us your photo for next month. Theme is sandals!) But this season I bought these, these and the ones I show today. All shoes I am in love with!

CASUAL OLIVE GREEN OFF SHOULDER DRESS & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Nice and easy in a casual dress

Most of the time, with clothing, the way a dress or skirt looks is more important to me then comfort. I have this especially with shoes. When I was about four years old, my grandfather and grandmother took me to a shoe store, in a nearby village, where they had a special device for kids. They could watch through the shoes at the feet of the little client. To see if the shoe fit. Because if I saw some black lacquer shoes, I would say straight away that they were good. Of course that had to be checked out! I still search for shoes by their appearance and not if they are comfortable.

But now for a change a casual dress

Because I hate wearing old joggers and a old worn tee on the couch in the evening. But that is the time I want to be comfortable too. And have the cats sitting on my lap. This dress is ideal for that. With a belt and some accesories it’s stylish. I wear wooden bracelets here and a necklace with wood. ( actually a Jord watch would fit perfectly with this outfit!)And I pulled one side of the dress up and stuck it with a small earring for a bit more fun effect. And when I want to relax in front of the tv with my cats and Gerben and a nice drink, I’ll take off the belt put my shoes off and curl up on the couch! But still fashionblogger worthy! Besides, I also played a little with the pictures. But I will not do that anymore, don’t be afraid, I like my pictures better with no filter. With wrinkles and my own teint and bumps and all that kind of badness, but that’s me! ON TREND IN A GINGHAM DRESS

But what is a gingham dress?

Back from a lovely week in the UK! Back on Wifi! Haha.

Yes, I can picture a Brigitte Bardot-like dress in black and white like here, although most of them are actually in red/white! But where does gingham come from, why is it called gingham? Of course everything we want to know can be found on Wikipedia. So now we know!

I really wanted a gingham print dress in black and white for years, but because these are often off shoulder, and I don’t think that looks good on me, I have never bought one. Until I wanted to try some dresses from overseas companies. And this one has straps on the shoulders, so I do not feel so naked in it. I’m glad I tried some overseas sites. It was worth it. I now have different dresses that I am very pleased with and they fit surprisingly good.

Styling my gingham dress with green

You almost never see me with a bag, a nice trendy one that is. I always have to carry the bag for my oxygen concentrator when I go out. If I ever, ever get a transplant and don’t need the extra oxygen anymore, the first thing I will do is by myself a designer bag! Btw, I’ve almost finished the post about my disease. I think it will be ready in two weeks. Back to the bag, isn’t the color amazing? And I think that gingham matches with green perfectly. Of course black and white match with any color. So, I wear green slippers, green earrings and a green bead chain worn as a bracelet from????? Yes, Brighton! Just like these ones! It is only a pitty that there are no loops for the belt on the dress. Now I have to check all the time if the strap is still in the right place, otherwise you see the elastic above it. Perfection is a thing….

FUN FASHION SHOW & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Invitation for a fashion show

A few weeks ago I received an invitation for a fashion show in my formar colleague’s shop. It’s always fun to see those girls and they always put a lot of effort to make a succesful evening. And after the fashion show you have the opportunity to shop and you get a decent discount. How can we say no to that. So I went with Denise to Steps Winterswijk.

Fun shopping evening

Marie-Louise and her team made a perfect evening. Upon entering, two very nice looking men(wink) welcomed us with a drink and an explanation of the evening. After greating my former colleagues, we strolled through the shop searching for the latest items. It all looked very summery and colorful, not just the collection, there was even a coctailbar! There were two fashion shows and afterwards there was an oppurtunity to shop a bit further. In between we were spoiled with delicious snacks and there was even a ice cream car! I’ve bought some great items that, of course, I will show another time.fashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion showfashion show

If you are ever near Winterswijk, you should really visit the Steps. Thank you dear galls! And men!

FINALLY TIME TO WEAR DRESSES & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Story about dresses.

Because I can’t find any nice dresses anymore at my regular store(where I also used to work), they have changed their concept, I had to look for a different store or site to score my perfect dress. The shop that I used to work for was known for their beautiful dresses in the Netherlands and Belgium. Somewhere in 2007 a Dutch television serie, Julia’s Tango, started and our shop took care of all the dresses and other clothing. You should really check the link to take a look at the dresses they wore and we sold! The series was a huge succes and so were the dresses. Everybody talked about it. After each episode( one evening a week) the clothing that were worn in that episode hung in the stores the next day. It was crazy! The women stood in front of the shop before opening and inside they almost pulled the dresses out of each others hand. It was such a fantastic time.

Looking for perfect dresses.

But as I said, I think they don’t have nice dresses anymore. Now, there are a lot of overseas companies that sell very pretty dresses. But we Dutch are always a bit hesitant for overseas buying. But I had to do something. I hardly have any dresses in my closet…..sigh….. I used to wear more dresses in winter but I havn’t this winter so I am really ready for dresses!

By chance, I received a request for a collaboration to show some dresses! Well, that request sure came at the right time! Now I could try some different dresses, different designs and prints. Wonderfull. I am afraid you now get to see a lot of dresses for a while!green dressesgreen cardigan and dressesbrown flower pin and dressesgreen and brown in dressesbrown bracelets and dressesoutfit dressesleopart print shoes and dressesfashion dressesfashion over 50 dressesover 50 wearing dressesover 50 in dresses
