PREPPY LOOK WITH FISHNET TIGHTS & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

PREPPY LOOK WITH FISHNET TIGHTS & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

How to look preppy with fishnet tights

When I was in my adolescence fishnet tights were especially popular with punks, torn of course. In the eighties it was much worn with the secretary look, think pencilskirt and matching blazer. I’ve done both! Except for the torn part. I hadn’t worn fishnet tights for years, actually because when I wear tights it must be cold. I will stay bare legged as long as possible. And I don’t always want to wear two tights. I have done here. Normally I don’t wear tights under trousers, but I could not find fishnet knee socks. I already had a hard time finding these.

As I have said here, I love this lenght trousers. This black one I wear preferably with a tight black turtleneck sweater and ankle boots. Very simple, and in my opinion quite stylish. A few weeks ago, when we took these photos, it was so terribly cold that I wanted to wear a lot of layers. A basic shirt, this blouse and a V-neck sweater. The snakeprint bracelet is a gift to myself from Ibiza, from years ago. I love a bit edgy ness with a preppy look! I don’t often wear pants, but when I do I like it this way!

You look lovely and so does the snow. The fishnets are a brilliant idea under your ankle pants. Thanks for sharing this inspiration and for hosting.

How cute you look! I like this look a bit preppy, as you say. I like the elegance of the pants, the elegance of the colors, the wonderful lace blouse and these nice shoes. The hairstyle is beautiful, and it breaks, a little, the classic formality of the look.

Yes, thats what I wanted to do with the tights and the hairdo! Thank you Josep!

I think this look has some attitude, a bit of rock chick with your preppy?
I can so relate to what you say about tights, especially under trousers. I only wear tights with skirts and dresses, never with trousers (even when it’s cold, as in well below zero), it’s just uncomfortable.

    • March 3, 2017 / 2:28 pm

Yes it is. I don’t like them either under dresses and skirts. I will be happy when it’s getting a bit warmer and we can go bare legged again!

I love this look, Nancy! The fishnets just peaking out at the bottom of your ankle pants is so subtly and sexy! Well done. You had difficulty finding fishnets, I am having the hardest time finding pantyhose with seams up the back. I found some online, but then they were all sold out. I keep going for fishnets as an alternative because those I can find!

Fishnets have been around forever, but I love how they’re trending now under distressed jeans and cropped pants – such a fun new twist.

Kudos to you for still taking photos outside when there is snow on the ground!

Fishnets are always sexy. Even if we just see them peeping out at the bottom of the trousers.

I love that length trouser, as well! I would have never thought to layer fishnets underneath, but the result is a great work look! Thanks for linking up with Fabulous Friday!

Oh, I really like this, Nancy! The fishnet tights are the perfect bit of edge for this otherwise preppy look. I need to give this a try while we still have cool weather. Also your shoes are Fabulous!

This looks really good on you!! I like this length trousers too, but have to wear something loose at the top (no hips or bum). Like you I rediscovered fishnets, only mine are “small holes” and I wear hold-ups (thigh highs). So no crotch pulling. Thanks for the inspiration. I will wear them with 3/4 trousers next week.

Do you wear them under your trousers, because last week when you were shopping in Haarlem, you wore them too and you were wearing jeans!

Love this “preppy” outfit, with the added zip of the fishnets, very cool. Also the brown dot reminds me of the dress from A Pretty woman! Also love the black maryjanes! Great outfit! Love Linda’s rich monotone look na her cool umbrella!

Clever! I never think “preppy” when I think fishnet tights, so this is a fresh interpretation of a classically punk/sexpot style. The little peek of fishnets at your ankles is such a fun alternative to socks or going bare!
