It’s Fancy Friday that means time to linkup! Last week the number stopped at 37. No no no, 50 it has to be! When I reach 50 I plan to give the linkup a theme. But I’m still trying to figure out how that works with the voting thing. So any help is welcome! You can linkup at the bottom of this post!

Maxi tie dye dress disaster!

I do laugh at these pictures but it is a fake one! I’ll explain. All week the weather here has been wonderful, the sun shines all day and it’s very hot. For today’s post, I had this dress in mind because it is a real summer look. I had also in mind to make the pictures in the evening because the sun always shines so beautifully over the garden. So last night after diner we found out that the dishwasher was broken (after only two years) full with dirty dishes. Gerben checked everything but he also had an appointment so eventually we had very little time for the photos. Did I mention we host a bbq for friends on Sunday! Lots of dishes to wash by hand! We went outside and guess what….. it suddenly became cloudy. No sun to be seen! Well my mood dropped to freezing.

This really is not a nice outfit!

At first I thought the sun hat would be nice, but I actually look like a witch. I had no color to style the dress so I opted for black, but because there was no sun it just made sober. And under a dress like this, I only like to wear flip flops and not sandals. The scarf I thought to use  as something to cover up my arms, but looked rediculous. So this is my stupidest, ugliest post ever! And as a consolation I NEED very much linkups! Hahahaha, enjoy the weekend, I’m going to!

My link-up party grows each week a little bit(you know my nickname is the very hungry caterpillar), but I’m not satisfied until I have 50 fantastic bloggers joining, so I could really use your support on this. Thank You!

  1. Hi Nancy, thanks for another great blog post reading your blog makes me smile, its fun and informative. Good work girl, Keep it up!!!

  2. The dress (and the hat) certainly look nice… But that only goes to show that what something looks like and what it feels like are two different things. And of course there’s a right place and time for everything. And sometimes a dress just doesn’t feel right, but it might be perfect the following day.
But how about a linen shirt or a cardigan over the dress? That might make it ok for a cloudy/cooler day.

    1. Oh my God Tiina! Of course! My Denim blouse! Ah, you are great, I looked for a cardigan but I did not have a good color but I hadn t thought about a blouse! I think I was to angry! And I could have knotted the blouse then. You re the best

  3. Nancy, I do not think this looks as bad as you think it looks! I think you look pretty fabulous! I recently tried some photos wearing a similar black sun hat…my photos got deleted (on purpose)! Haha! I just don’t wear hats well, but you look adorable in the hat.

I know what you are saying though about some outfits just not turning out to be what you wanted. I find some outfits look great in the mirror and I feel fantastic wearing them, but the pictures just do no justice. Then other outfits that look just kind of plain or boring or I just don’t love them in the mirror turn out fabulous in photos. Ah, the struggles of a fashion blogger!

I also find if I wait until the end of the day to take my photos that never turns out as planned! Either I never get to it, the sun doesn’t work with me, the kids won’t permit it, or I am just a big wrinkled mess!

    Have a fabulous weekend!

    1. Haha, Yeah I know about the last part. But I had to because I didn t have any other pictures. And I am glad that you think it s not that bad. I never wear hats though, I bought this one because I love to read in the sun and that is better with a hat on! And you are so right about the outfits! Strange isn t it! Enjoy your weekend Shelbee!

  4. The dress is adorable and the shoes are adorable and they look great with the dress. I agree with Tina. The mood you are in affects how you feel about how you look, for sure. I would love to see you wear this dress again after you tweak it a bit, and after the sun comes out!

  5. I think it’s frustrating when the weather doesn’t cooperate—-doesn’t it realize how important our photo shoots are?
Truthfully Nancy, you look great in this outfit….It’s a perfect summer look and the sandals & hat bookend each other! I know we all tend to be overly self critical, but you are a beautiful woman inside and out!!
Good luck with the dishwasher—ugh, ugh & triple ugh!

  6. I really like the dress! Including the hat & scarf!

But I totally know how you sometimes feel when photos don’t go as planned (and when life gets in the way…). When we look at the photos we remember the feeling more than anything I think. And sometimes I feel great when we take photos, but they objectively turn out not so well…

Anyway, your dress is the perfect summer dress! Sorry about your dishwasher. Have a wonderful BBQ on Sunday!

    1. The same is when you show your friends the holiday pictures. They havn t got that feeling at it! Thank you for your lovely comment! Have a great weekend!

  7. I love the dress and don’t have a problem with the black, But it’s the dish washer i feel for you. When ours went on the blink I made everyone eat out of paper plates until we got a new one (the Grandsons were visiting and those boys can go through dishes and glasses like crazy)! They were glad to see real plates again! But a lot of things had to be hand washed also Because, face it, they only break when they are full! I just joined the link-up so here’s to more coming to the party.

    1. Thank you Terri! I love to see you weekly! I know, I thought about eating on paper plates on Sunday when we host a bbq. But I dont want that so my friends have to help! Haha they dont know it yet! Have a great weekend!

  8. I love the dress. I haven’t seen much tie dye that has enticed me to try it one, but I like this dress. I didn’t even notice the dark clouds. Sorry about the weather. 😉 Thanks for hosting the link up

  9. I enjoyed reading about your comedy of errors, Nancy. I hope your dishwasher has been repaired. You do look very nice in this tie dye maxi and the fit suits you perfectly. I hope your weekend is much better!

  10. I think EVERY personal style blogger has felt the frustration of a day that doesn’t cooperate with our plans for a photo shoot, dear Nancy!! But please…don’t call this outfit “ugly!!” The fitted style of your maxi dress is very flattering on you; while the black accessories together with the navy and white create a very sophisticated colour palette. And in my humble opinion?? Those strappy, flower-embellished sandals add way more interest to your finished look than flip-flops ever could!! XO
