BUTTON DOWN SKIRT,VELVET & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

me in button down skirt

Me and my button down skirt.

I can remember that as a child I also had a button down skirt. A yellow/brown one! Yes I was a child in the 70’s. I did search for a picture of me in that skirt but I have very few pictures of myself…..that is until I started my blog eh, I’m now catching up! So now a button down skirt always gives me a bit of a boho feel. And what fits then better then something velvet. I bought this skirt last year and I was told by the saleswoman, who was a former colleague of mine, to size down because the skirt would losen up one size. I thought it wouldn’t because I could feel that. But you don’t want to be stubborn……but now it is still to small!

Wearing a cardigan just for the color.

This cardigan I only bought because of the color. I had a lot of outfits wherein I wanted to add something brown. And I have never found a nice brown sweater. This is a very cheap cardigan, it’s not fitted, it’s not exiting, it’s actually three times nothing. But….I wear it purely for the color. I have done it before here. And so I wear the velvet camisole over the cardigan so there is still some brown to see what fits well with the boots. These wooden bracelets perfectly match the outfit. And I added a brooche to complete the whole. Thanks to Jodie and Jess I am now quite addicted to brooches!

Note: I stopped to feature my favorite of the week. I told you I would pick my favorite when I reached 100 linkups per week. Last week I had 74! I don’t mind the extra work, I like it actually but I need a little support from you okay? I also need your support for the Styled by…. series. If nobody mails me their style story then I need to stop with that serie. Wouldn’t that be a pitty? I think so…

I love this fun outfit with the velour tank over a sweater – what a perfect solution for something you like only for its color! – and the denim skirt. I also really like the first photo with the wind blowing your hair. What a great depiction of spring weather. Have a great weekend, Nancy!

Ik vind de top een luxueuze uitstraling geven. En de ketting erbij maakt het compleet. De bruine trui eronder staat ook gewoon Nice! Een geslaagde outfit!

My God, that hairstyle madness, I love it! And I love your denim skirt with these boots, and I love the wonderful warm tone of colors at the top. An original and brave proposal, it works wonderfully. But that hair … the best of the post!

How awesome is this outfit, Nancy! I love the 70’s vibe in the style and colors. You look amazing! And I hear you on the link up. I used to get many more links added to mine with over 1000 views of the link up. Now I get between 40 and 70 links with only about 200 views and sometimes only 15 clicks total. I am wondering if this is across the board for bloggers. Maybe link ups are fading out with the move to social media platforms? I don’t know!

Thank you Shelbee. I hear you on the linkup thing. I think that I do pretty alright for a small Dutch blogger ….but I was actually a bit upset(pissed) because there were so less comments on the Styled by….series. Haha, I know I am a bit weird….

      • April 10, 2017 / 12:45 am

Hey Nancy, I totally understand, you do something and expect it to blossom but in return its crickets. I’m all too familiar with it. In fact there were a couple of heartfelt emails I sent out to my mailing list and heard nothing, not even words of sympathy. But I tell myself that people (bloggers particularly) who are running their businesses, connecting with others and brands, researching to grow and on top of it all if they work another job, have kids, and manage a home, are too busy to reply to every email they get. I’m a sometimes an offender too. We heavily rely on human nature in our business and sometimes historical data doesn’t always tell the full picture. On that note I’d love for you to connect and link up at http://the-wardrobe-stylist.com/2017/04/09/fashion-gifts-for-mothers-day/

        • April 10, 2017 / 9:22 am

I think you are so right! Thank you!

    • April 10, 2017 / 12:39 am

Hey Shelbee, just a thought but could it be because you have 2 link ups so people are only going to one instead of both? I am not sure but I know for me linkup rates and comments dropped when I decreased commenting on other blogs. I only did this as I was testing but really out of necessity as I was running out of time since I invested more time in trying out other tactics. Though I hear now that micro influencers are much more sought after first because of the rate of engagement and price. So given this tid bit, I think I will focus more on going back to my old habits and dropping others that may bring in more traffic but less engagement.

      • April 10, 2017 / 9:21 am

I did that too Rania, less commenting because of lack of time, and that did increase. Thank you for your comment!

Nancy, I love the way you styled the cardi under the velvet cami! The brooch makes it perfect! Don’t you love Jodie and Jess! They have such great ideas. I used to have a button up skirt too, but no more. I always felt like it was more of a hassle to make sure all the buttons were buttoned or stayed buttoned. Ha, ha. You look great! Nancy, I love your candor. As someone very new to this Linkup thing, I know things will probably get frustrating. Think you for supporting my first linkup. I love you style-such a care free boho look, which I am not very good at! Have fun in England and enjoy those charity shops. I can’t wait to see what gems you find! Take care and thank you again for your support. Terri

I really like how you’ve layered the velvet cami over the cardigan and added the cameo brooch. The bangles pick up the brown and tan perfectly. The skirt doesn’t look too small, I think sometimes button down skirts can look tight because movement can pull at the buttons. I have a tan corduroy button down skirt and I can only wear it with tights, which is annoying because it clings to them, and I don’t own such a thing as a petticoat!

Oh I hate that, when it clings! It feels so awfull! Why can you only wear it with tights?

    • April 14, 2017 / 12:43 pm

Thank you very much Lisa. I am honored!
