JORD COOL WATCH FOR MEN & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Jord wood watches

When I received an email from Jord wood watches for a collaboration I was a bit proud of it. Oh I always see those beautiful watches everywhere and now I got to choose one? Wow! But no! I was allowed to choose a men’s watch! What? What about me! Hahaha, like if I don’t already get enough! And the always loyal photographer has earned something too isn’t that so? Gerben was very pleased as he loves a cool watch and has got quite a collection already. When we shop together he wants to go in every Jeweler to look at the unique watches.(boring) But he hasn’t got a wood watch!

Jord and Gerben

Gerben was allowed to choose from different watches and Jord really has a beautiful men’s collection. The choice was not difficult. Gerben liked the one he choose immediately. Of course I also checked the women collection, you never know. (wink) Check all of there beautiful watches here.

Gerben and Jord

Well Gerben, if you want that Jord men’s watch, you also have to be on a photo with it! And that is going to be published on my blog! And on several social media! Normally that’s a problem. He doesn’t want that. He has Facebook but he only read what others put on it. Nothing else. But I think the watch appealed to him so much, there was no resistance at all!

You can also create a custom engraving. It’s a perfect present for a anniversary or just a birthday. That way you give such a unique gift!

And you can also join the giveaway!! Every person who enters will be entered to win a $100 gift code to use on the JORD site! One lucky person will win, but everyone will receive a consolation code worth $25 once the contest ends! FLORAL WRAP DRESS

Always feeling happy in a floral wrap dress

We are back a week from a short vacation to England. I will not bore you with the pictures because they are always the same. We love England and especially Sussex, and we went there for the I don’t know how many time! We had fantastic weather and spend a lot of time at the beach. And we always go to Brighton. Really a great city! So now our 25-year anniversary party is been( I write a post about that) and the holiday is over, it’s back to real life again. Fortunately, we still have great weather here in the Netherlands, so we can eat outside every night and stay outside till bedtime. I think that is so relaxing. When we got home there were a lot of packages that need to be unpacked, tried on and be photographed. Enough to do! I still remeber writing a post a while ago about how fun it seemed to be working with bloggers and companies. I also know I was complaining a little. Because it seemed like everyone had fun collaborations except for me! Now I really have to plan wich package and company comes first etc. How crazy is that! And….more important! I now have such a nice collaboration with Shelbee! Our Bad Buy Book series! I love it dear Shelbee. But one of the packages that was ready for me was this amazing floral wrap dress.

Floral wrap dress

I am already fond of dresses but especially wrap dresses. And after all the happy floral and pink and red outfits of the last weeks, I also like to wear a black dress again. But all black seemed to sober for a dress in this season. I wear very little orange but this dress has it combined with brown and I think that is very nice. Color, but still understated. The fun part of the dress is the high low hem line. I love that. I didn’t see it when I ordered the dress. An extra bonus! Btw, I later remembered I wore this shirtdress last year in orange and pink. Forgot all about it. And wearing the same shoes. I wore it right away yesterday!fashionable floral wrap dressfashion over 50 floral wrap dressdresses in floral wrap dressoutfit floral wrap dressfloral wrap dressfashion over 40 floral wrap dressbrown shoes and floral wrap dressfashion floral wrap dress

FASHION OVER 50: BLACK JUMPSUIT & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Outfit with a black jumpsuit!

I always find a jumpsuit a difficult garment. Why, do you wonder. It’a one piece, so get it on and you’re ready. There are all kinds of different types of shoes that will look good under a jumpsuit so what’s so hard about it? Well, first of all I have to go to the toilet quite often. I drink a lot of water during the day….and then a jumpsuit isn’t that convenient. And second, I don’t like all jumpsuits and they certainly don’t all like me! I don’t like the ones with a print, I only like them in a solid color( prefeably black), I want them calf lenght and they have to run tapered. Now a lot of jumpsuits in this season are wide. In itself very fun, but not for me. I had a jumpsuit years ago, navy blue with gold-colored buttons. It was a very nice one but it was long. I always tried to roll up the pipes but the fabric was a bit silky so it fell straight down again. That wasn’t a garment I wore a lot.

My perfect jumpsuit

As you can see this is my kind a jumpsuit! It meets all my requirements. And you can style this one in so many different styles. Boho, chique, casual, feminine, toyboyish. I styled it a bit classy. Actually it’s a super easy piece of clothing! Just do not drink to much water!fashion over 40 jumpsuitfashionable in jumpsuitfabulous over 50 in jumpsuitleopard shoes and jumpsuitfashionblogger in jumpsuitShein jumpsuitfashion over 50 jumpsuitfashionable jumpsuit

ON TREND IN A GINGHAM DRESS

But what is a gingham dress?

Back from a lovely week in the UK! Back on Wifi! Haha.

Yes, I can picture a Brigitte Bardot-like dress in black and white like here, although most of them are actually in red/white! But where does gingham come from, why is it called gingham? Of course everything we want to know can be found on Wikipedia. So now we know!

I really wanted a gingham print dress in black and white for years, but because these are often off shoulder, and I don’t think that looks good on me, I have never bought one. Until I wanted to try some dresses from overseas companies. And this one has straps on the shoulders, so I do not feel so naked in it. I’m glad I tried some overseas sites. It was worth it. I now have different dresses that I am very pleased with and they fit surprisingly good.

Styling my gingham dress with green

You almost never see me with a bag, a nice trendy one that is. I always have to carry the bag for my oxygen concentrator when I go out. If I ever, ever get a transplant and don’t need the extra oxygen anymore, the first thing I will do is by myself a designer bag! Btw, I’ve almost finished the post about my disease. I think it will be ready in two weeks. Back to the bag, isn’t the color amazing? And I think that gingham matches with green perfectly. Of course black and white match with any color. So, I wear green slippers, green earrings and a green bead chain worn as a bracelet from????? Yes, Brighton! Just like these ones! It is only a pitty that there are no loops for the belt on the dress. Now I have to check all the time if the strap is still in the right place, otherwise you see the elastic above it. Perfection is a thing….

PRINT MIXING PART2 & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Print mixing part2: floral skirt and tee with text!

This is print mixing part2. Haha, it sounds so funny. But I told you on Tuesday that I would show you this week my floral skirts with a printed tee as I asked you how to mix prints here. Okay, this is not a printed tee, it’s just a tee with a text. But what a fabulous text! And it is so terribly me! I love black humor and a little sarcasme is not strange to me either. And so it became easy to mix prints!

Not the best pictures!

I apologize for the not very good pictures. Now that I’m editing them, I see that this series is not one of the best. I look tired, my hair is futile, the exposure is not good and the straps on my shoes are crooked. But I also put the less successful photos on my blog because I am not a model and not perfect at all. So you will have to do with this! Just look at the skirt and the tee! Lol.

I think the jacket is a good contrast with the sweet skirt and I like a contrast in my outfit. A leather bracelet is the contrast for the elastic floral/tulle waist belt. So, do you like a little sarcasme?

THE BAD BUY BOOK: DRESSES!

Welcome to June’s edition of The Bad Buy Book!

The Bad Buy Book is a series hosted by Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style. We wanted to establish together something fun and new. We both talked about our,,Sitting Shoes,, and so we came up with the idea for The Bad Buy Book!

We all do our best to look great in our outfits, choose the right accessories, the right makeup, the perfect shoes, and wait for the best light to shoot the most flattering outfit photos. And now we are asking you to show us the items you don’t feel your very best in. You know, those ,,Sitting Shoes,, that dress that is actually not quite your color, the skirt that is a size too small but the saleswoman said it looked amazing. We all own those items!  And while they may look fabulous, they don’t always feel fabulous! So we want you to show us your bad buys and tell us the story about them! What made you purchase the item?  And why do you dislike it now?  And why not share them with us?  We buy these things for a reason then hide them in the back of the closet.  Now it’s their turn to share the limelight.

Every month on the 15 th, we will both publish a post sharing the photos you have sent us along with a few sentences about the bad buy. Photo submissions will be due by the 1 st of each month so we have time to edit and compile all of the entries. At the end of each post we will let you know the theme for the next month’s post. Photos and the story of your ”Bad Buy” can be emailed to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or nancybaten@upcmail.nl. Please put”Bad Buy” in the subject line.

Let’s start with The Bad Buy Book: dresses!

First of all, my lovely co-host Shelbee of Shelbee On the EdgeThe Bad Buy Book: dresses

I have this dress in black and it is one of my favorites!  When I saw it in this bright yellow floral, I had to have it.  It was slightly damaged so I also received a 50% discount but it was a final sale.  Now that I have it, I realize that the color is not so flattering on me.  And the slimming effect that is created in the black version is not present at all in the bright yellow!  Oh well, I still like the cheerfulness of the dress even though it is not the most flattering piece in my closet.

I actually like the boots and the cardigan with the dress Shelbee!

Here is Lorena of My Every Day Wear

The Bad Buy Book: dressesI’m the first one to admit that something does not look well. In this case, the black jumper dress purchased not too long ago. It looked ok in the dressing room and I was in a hurry, so I did not stop to further evaluate and just bought it. Today I am ready to let it go after just three wears. Does this happen to you often ? Buy something in a hurry,  little thought put in it and then… it just does not work ? I have to say it makes me upset as I like to think that I am now wiser and more assertive with my purchases, well I guess not.

Haha, oh yes Lorena, I can relate to that!

Here is our loyal fellow blogger Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of StyleThe Bad Buy Book: dressesSo I’m sending this photo of my dress that I consider a bad buy! It may look fine in the photos, but after only one washing it pilled terribly. I had washed it normally like the directions said, but the material must have been defective. I kept meaning to take it back to the store, but I never got around to it. Sadly, I gave it away, even though I loved it otherwise!!

That’s a pitty Jodie, because the colors and the print are very nice.

Here is Susan of Over 50 Under 20The Bad Buy Book: dresses

Years ago, I made up a little saying for my husband to use when he went shopping by himself.  I felt like this was necessary, because sometimes he would bring home clothing that was…how can I put this?…..downright UGLY. I finally figured out that he did not look good in brown, so I taught him to say, “If it’s brown, put it down” and “If it’s blue, it will do.” His wardrobe choices have improved dramatically since he learned these phrases, but occasionally he will rebel and come home with something in the forbidden color. LOLThe Bad Buy Book: dresses

I am telling you this because I should have followed my own advice. I bought a brown dress, and I tried to make it work. I really did! When I tried this dress on, I thought it was so cute. But as I am fond of saying, my fashion journey is full of trial and error, which is why I don’t like to buy expensive clothes. I don’t like to make mistakes. BUT….I just have to admit…..I don’t like it!  .

Believe it or not, I did not give up after seeing these pictures, but kept going:The Bad Buy Book: dresses

To be honest, it is not just the color.  This dress is just NOT flattering at all. Ladies, this is why the camera is your friend. It will tell you things that the dressing room mirror will not say. The mirror might say, “Only $14.99, and you look so cute in this!  Buy it!”   But the camera will say, “It’s not a bargain if it doesn’t look good on you. What were you thinking??” So bye bye brown dress.  I hope you enjoyed hanging out in my closet for a month.

Haha, what a funny story Susan! At least you’ve tried!

Here is Gail of Is This Mutton? The Bad Buy Book: dressesThe problem:

I bought this dress about a year ago: I was looking for an “impress dress” in terms of a smart dress for work that would give me confidence in a meeting where I had to present to a senior manager from the US. I thought this dress had the necessary gravitas.

BUT. Although it’s fairly figure flattering, it’s navy blue, a colour which doesn’t suit me and drains me.  I find the dress so dreary, I can’t even think of what to wear with it to make it look better. A belt? Meh. Jewellery? Meh. So probably the navy blue tights and shoes aren’t helping.  The dress is also a bit low cut, and I wore it with a sports bra to avoid showing any cleavage (!), and it shows my clavicles, which, unlike the rest of me, are bony. I don’t like wearing scarves but I don’t like this area being exposed.

So I only wore it once, and I can’t see myself wearing it again!

Perhaps styled in a totall different way Gail?

And lastly I, of course, also have a Bad Buy dress! The Bad Buy Book: dresses

I can’t even look normal wearing this one. What was I thinking? I know! Oh, It’s only €15! Why do we ever go back there every time? Bleh! To big, to frumpy, to long, to whatever! Not me.

That’s it for this month! Thank you all so very much for participating! Hope you, and lot’s of more beautiful women, will join us next month!

Next month theme is: Tops!

So dig up that ugly shirt, that without any thinking bought tee and those not to combine tops. And send us your picture before the 10 th of July!

Have a great day everybody!
