SHORTS OVER 40….OH NO! SHORTS OVER 50!

Can I still wear shorts over 50?

Haha, yeah I can think I’m still young( in my head I’m stuck at 38) but I am over 50. No denying in that. And some garments I really don’t want to wear anymore. Short skirts and sleeveless tops for example. But what about shorts? Well, I don’t know. I have recently seen on the outfit pictures that my legs are really no longer smooth, so actually shorts are out of grace for me. But I always find them so easy to wear. And on the bike it’s so much more ideal than a skirt that always blows open, I always am pulling them down. But when I saw this one I thought: well, I can wear it at home! I had already written a post about shorts( then it was shorts over 40!) here. Only now it’s shorts over 50! Haha.

How do I wear my new shorts

I was asked to choose an item from this site and I choose this pink jacket. I am totally into pink this season. In all shades of pink! I’ve never been so colorful in my life as I am this season. So this jacket, and it fits perfect with my mules that I hadn’t shown you yet. And also had not worn yet. By the way, mules are so comfortable! ( I also bought three! pair of shoes last Sunday. I really have to stop shopping for a while!)These shorts lend themselves well to wear them a bit more elegant. And the navy with this soft shade of pink is very nice together, at least that is my opinion. I’m also fond of gold accents in clothes. A silver button, zipper or buckle doesn’t do it for me. I don’t like silver. So with these golden buttons on this shorts I felt easily in love. Some gold colored accesories finish the look. And my Brighton beads.shorts over 50fashion shorts over 50shorts over 50shorts over 50shorts over 50shorts over 50shorts over 50shorts over 50shorts over 50

WEARING JOGGERS STYLISH & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Wearing joggers stylish with a little edge.

At the moment I think stylish joggers are absolutely amazing! There is also a great chance that I think about half a year: my god, what was I thinking! And please be very honest if you like them or not. These joggers are a bit more baggy then I am used to and I am walking differently in these. You know, hands in pocket, a little relaxed, cool man, that sort of walk. And that is totally not me. But these joggers do that to you. They are very relaxed. I have also worn them with sneakers but that didn’t make me feel comfortable. I like it a bit stylish, not sporty.

Styling a black joggers

I wanted a whole black outfit after all those summery dresses! I never wear trousers with a sweater or flat shoes, unless it’s raining or snowing and I have to go out. I am not that fond of trousers, so when I wear them I like to style them feminine. Like with this bow blouse and sandals. But I also like to make it a bit tougher with a leather jacket. I often like a bit of contrast in my outfits. You can find my other two joggers here and here. Do you like to wear joggers or is it your opinion that they should be saved for the gym?

I’m writing a post about my disease. It is going to be a very long story, I tried to keep it short, but I can’t! But when Nicole, High Latitude Style, asked if I wanted to write a few lines about being chronically ill, I was immediately exited. My story will be coming soon, but here you can read a preview.

HOTTEST UPCOMING SWIMSUIT TRENDS

Hottest Upcoming Swimsuit Trends

Today I have Claire again as my guestwriter!

Even though it seemed like it will never come, spring is finally here. This means that summer is just around the corner, and if we really want to look stunning on the beach, we should slowly start preparing. Going to the gym and changing your diet will make you look amazing, but it’s also important to find the right swimsuit. This year’s trends are incredibly interesting and versatile, and if you’re hoping to wear something modern and eye-catching, here’s what you should pay attention to.

Wrap top bikinis

swimsuit trendssource/source

The trend that shyly emerged last year has now come back in full swing – sexy bikinis with tops which wrap around your chest. This design offers great support for the breasts, making them look perkier than ever. What is more, it stays firmly in place so you can swim, jump, and dive with ease – it isn’t going anywhere. Since they are so versatile, you can pair them up with sexy ripped denim shorts, light beach kaftans or casual floral shorts, and look equally stunning. Depending on how much support you need, you can choose halters or spaghetti straps.

The mini tee

swimsuit trendssource/source

Fashion is evolving and becoming bolder with every new season, so this new trend shouldn’t come as a surprise. Bikinis with tee-like tops are taking over beaches and pool parties by storm, and it looks like 2017 is going to be all about the mini tee. The bottoms can be classic or retro deep-waist ones, and the sleeves on the top can be ruffled, off-the-shoulder, full-shoulder caps, or you can even go for a full crop top. As long as you don’t mind getting dressed up for the beach a bit more than usual, you can rock this look with ease. Since the top looks like a tee already, you should pick the bottom carefully – deep waist shorts with big sunglasses will make you look like a pin-up model, while wide, flowy skirt will give you that casual boho look.

Monokinis

swimsuit trends

The biggest question we have to ask ourselves: “Are the tan lines worth it?” It seems like this year we won’t even have to ask that, as one-piece swimsuits are rocking more straps, strings, and sheer fabric than ever before. For those who would like to hide their stomach and emphasize the waist and legs, monokinis with mesh fabric are perfect. Girls are also falling in love with one-piece, one strap monokinis. Since they can look both modest and sexy, they are even suitable for after-beach dinner if you wrap a sarong around your waist.

The One-Piece Side Design

swimsuit trendssource/source/source/source/source

One-piece swimsuits are getting a fresh redesign with cut-outs becoming more and more prominent with every passing season. New focus is added to the side seams by using D-rings and laces which connect the front and back end of the swimsuit. There is a solution for those who would like to hide their midsection too: novel wrap designs are incorporated to hide the stomach. When you don’t feel like wearing a bikini because it’s too revealing, side designed one-piece is the perfect choice. Pair it with a seductive sheer beach kaftan or a sarong and you’ll look like a movie star.

Remember that you don’t have to follow current trends closely in order to look stylish and elegant. If you’re not sure how comfortable you’d feel wearing such swimsuits, no matter great they look in magazines, simply don’t wear them. You will never be able to relax and enjoy the pleasant time at the beach unless you feel confident and comfortable. Pick the right swimsuit for you, top it up with great accessories, and you’ll be ready to shine.

Thank you very much Claire! I am ready for swimsuits!

SUMMER DRESS WITH BUTTERFLIES & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Do you also love  a summer dress with butterflies?

I love butterflies. Fortunately we have a garden where there are always many in the summer. Bright yellow ones, white ones, blue ones, all sorts of butterflies. They always look so peaceful and kind. When I am reading in my garden in the sun there is always one butterfly landing on my feet. Haha, that tickles. But I don’t have any jewelry or tee’s or blouses with a butterfly print. So when I encountered this dress, while I was still discovering sites for fabulous dresses, I immediately knew this one was meant for me!

Overseas order a gamble?

I have been able to choose several dresses lately and I ordered three myself through overseas sites. And they didn’t disappoint me at all. This one even couldn’t be any better. I had measured my measurements well, but it’s still  a gamble if the fabric and the colors are okay. And returning could be such a hassle overseas, and expensive. But this summer dress with butterflies is really fantastic. The colors are just as in the picture, the fabric is very soft and the fit is just perfect. I was really exited about it. I am wearing red with it because that uplifts the dress even more. Cobalt blue would be an option too!outfit summer dress with butterfliesfashionabble in summer dress with butterfliesfashion over 50 summer dress with butterfliesfabulous over 40 summer dress with butterfliesred shoes summer dress with butterflieswomenswear summer dress with butterfliesfashion summer dress with butterfliesfashionblogger summer dress wiyh butterflies

IS THRIFT SHOPPING SOMETHING FOR YOU?

Is thrift shopping something you like to do?

I have told you before that I would give thrift shopping a chance while I was in England. I also said that I knew wich store I would visit because they have always a very beautiful dress in the window. In the Netherlands I never thrift shop because I hate the smell in those stores. And I don’t feel comfortable in second hand stores. But I want to give it a honest chance. And I like everything better in England, so my choice was made. Well, I went to that store and for the first time in years there was no stylish dress in the window. Just a simple black&white tunic. Okay, I went inside but what normally hangs in the window was not a reflection of what was inside. I am a terrible ,,sewer pit,,( I don’t think this is the right word) in the area of hygiëne and I was very resisted to search for a nice bargain. This wasn’t the shop for me.

I also visited a second hand store in Hastings, well I actually stayed outside. There were a few racks with clothing outside, And at some point I saw a beautiful dress, right size too. With a big STAIN! Yugh! That’s what I did not need on my thrift shopping experience! And I immediately decided that I didn’t want to check the store inside anymore. A bit stupid because in this window there hung a very nice dress. Later I had a few regrets that I didn’t give thrift shopping a better chance. So in five weeks I am going back and I will explore the shops better and even take pictures and perhaps show you a purchase! But for now I leave you with a new dress. I was allowed to choose several dresses for a collaboration. THE BAD BUY BOOK: JEWELRY

Welcome to The Bad Buy Book!

The Bad Buy Book is a series hosted by Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style. We wanted to establish together something fun and new. We both talked about our,,Sitting Shoes,, and so we came up with the idea for The Bad Buy Book!

We all do our best to look great in our outfits, choose the right accessories, the right makeup, the perfect shoes, and wait for the best light to shoot the most flattering outfit photos. And now we are asking you to show us the items you don’t feel your very best in. You know, those ,,Sitting Shoes,, that dress that is actually not quite your color, the skirt that is a size too small but the saleswoman said it looked amazing. We all own those items!  And while they may look fabulous, they don’t always feel fabulous! So we want you to show us your bad buys and tell us the story about them! What made you purchase the item?  And why do you dislike it now?  And why not share them with us?  We buy these things for a reason then hide them in the back of the closet.  Now it’s their turn to share the limelight.

Every month on the 15 th, we will both publish a post sharing the photos you have sent us along with a few sentences about the bad buy. Photo submissions will be due by the 1 st of each month so we have time to edit and compile all of the entries. At the end of each post we will let you know the theme for the next month’s post. Photos and the story of your ”Bad Buy” can be emailed to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or nancybaten@upcmail.nl. Please put”Bad Buy” in the subject line.

This month’s theme is : Jewelry! Let’s take a look at your Bad Buy’s!

First of course is my charming co-host Shelbee of Shelbee On The EdgeThe Bad Buy Book JewelryThe Bad Buy Book Jewelry“I love the look of this triple strand of black beads for dressing up an outfit.  It is super versatile, too, being all black.  However, the wire that holds it all together has all of these tiny little loose ends that have not been properly tucked or cut and it scratches the heck out of my neck!  So it may be a pretty necklace but it is not so pretty when I am constantly fidgeting and scratching at my neck! I’m sure it is an easy repair, I just need to get around to fixing it.”

Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style

The Bad Buy Book: JewelryThe white necklace I bought at Gordmans when the bubble necklaces were all the rage! I really liked it except 2 of the bubbles always turned around—which is annoying, right? So I’ve since given it away.

Sonja of YustSoMeThe Bad Buy Book: JewelryI just bought these beauties a long time ago. And everytime I look in my drawer and see my precious bling bling earrings I wished they weren’t that heavy. It is fine to wear them for some blogpost pictures, but when I go out for a date or something I never wear them, because my (lelletje) is hurting after a while!

Your host NancyThe Bad Buy Book JewelryI’ll join you Sonja as these are way to heavy! Sorry Gerben….

Jodie has another Bad Buy!

The Bad Buy Book: JewelryThe blue necklace I bought at a consignment store. The pendant would move from side to side and make all kinds of noise while I was wearing it. This one was fixable with a little superglue though and now it stays put!!

And I am also great in Bad Buys, I’ve got another one too.The Bad Buy Book JewelryI love this leather bracelet. I think it’s really cool but…..I don’t like silver and I think the closure is to big. I bought this one seven years at a hippy market on Ibiza and since then I always say when I want to wear it that I have to look for a gold colored closure! Seven years!

Thank you Jodie and Sonja for your contribution! You are fantastic!
Now come on all you fabulous lady’s, and perhaps some men, you can’t make us believe you all don’t have your Bad Buys! So we want to see lots of contributions for next month.

Next month theme is: Dresses!
