PINK SKIRT, RED TOP, BLACK BLAZER & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

I finally am wearing a pink skirt.

But first I ask your attention to the following. Tomorrow is the first of April and April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Red My Lips has started an campaign to wear all month red lipstick. Read below a piece of their website.

Red My Lips is an international nonprofit organization designed to raise visibility and awareness about the realities and prevalence of sexual violence, while combating rape myths and victim-blaming. We run an annual global awareness and action campaign where our fierce and fearless supporters rock red lipstick all throughout the month of April (Sexual Assault Awareness Month) to demonstrate solidarity and support for survivors and start important conversations with people in their lives.

You can find more information here on this organization.

So a pink skirt …and red lips!

Pink and red. I know it is not very original because we do see half of all the fashionbloggers in this combination. But it is so beautiful! This skirt is pretty thin so I am wearing tights underneath and hence also went with a blazer. A small pink bracelet with some thin black ones and pink earrings. A red corsage gives the outfit just a little more cachet. I think I will wear a lot of pink and red this season.

Don’t forget your picture of your worst trousers for The Bad Buy Book.

FLORAL WRAP BLOUSE, LEATHER PENCIL SKIRT- FASHION

Leather pencilskirt and floral wrap blouse.

What a perfect combination! I adore leather pencil skirts. They are so feminine but also so very cool! And you know by now that I love everything that is wrapped! Especially a floral wrap blouse. So this, to me, is a perfect combination! I haven’t worn this skirt for a long time and in my mind it was actually a bit longer. Or I wore it a bit lower….mmmm….anyway, we have scheduled a few days off in April. We are staying in Hastings. Oh how I am looking forward to that. To visit Brighton, eat fish&chips on the beach, go to Seven Sisters. I love it there! This year we have planned to go to the UK three times. For those who don’t know, I have a rare lung dissease and cant’t fly anymore. When we did, we always went once or twice a year to the UK and once to Ibiza. So now we always go to Sussex. If we were twenty years younger, we probably would have moved to the UK.

Floral wrap blouse in spring.

I am not a huge colorful person, in what I am wearing I mean. Although I am much more colorful than I’ve ever been. But since it isn’t summer yet, I stay away from very bright colors just yet. This floral wrap blouse is therefore, I think, ideal for spring. A happy floral print with some darker colors! I am wearing simple gold jewelry with the outfit. I think it fits nicely with the brown golden flowers in the print. So, do you like to wear leather skirts? And if you do, do you prefer a wider model or do you also love a pencilskirt? Let me know in your comments!

Btw, don’t forget to send Shelbee and me pictures of your worst trousers so that we can put you and your trousers in the limelight for the  next The Bad Buy Book series!

BLUE PLEATED SKIRT & SAGE COLD SHOULDER JUMPER & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Yet again another (blue) pleated skirt.

Can’t help it. I love a pleated skirt. I was in doubt about a pink one, but I ultimately chose this blue pleated skirt. Very likely that I still purchase another one later in the season. Actually, I already have seen a pretty one! Zara has a midseason sale going on and I saw this one. What do you think, shall I buy this one? Or is it to shiny? Please let me know. A pleated skirt is just so beautiful. Feminine, dressy, and you can make all kinds of styles with it. From sporty to elegant.

My blue pleated skirt.

I have often said it, I like blue and green together a lot. For this skirt I wanted a green jersey, so that I could already wear the skirt now. I have enough green tops but it is way to cold to wear tops now. This sweater has the perfect color. Sage! Also a nice name for a color. The perfect color but not the perfect look! I am not really a cold shoulder fan and not at all a torn, ripped, distressed fan! But I love the color to much, so I have to get used to it. And I am no longer twenty anymore, should I still wear these kind off sweaters? But Gerben said it looked good. So if you think it’s too young, then I will blaim him! Let me know your opinion, I can handle it….on a good day.golden earrings and blue pleated skirtfashion blue pleated skirtsage and blue pleated skirtBoohoo.com and blue pleated skirtblue pleated skirtoutfit with blue pleated skirtgrey boots and blue pleated skirtcold shoulder and blue pleated skirt

SHOE TRENDS: UPCOMING SPRING ESSENTIALS

Shoe Trends: Upcoming Spring Essentials

Today I have Claire again as guest writer!

Remember that “Sex and the City” episode when Carrie was mugged? That was the episode where the probably the most iconic sentence was shouted: “Please sir, you can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and watch, but you can’t take my Manolo Blahniks!” There is something about shoes that make us women feel super powerful, especially if our feet are “dressed” in the trendiest pair. To help you and your feet feel happy, here is a list of shoe trends for spring 2017.

Sock boots

Balenciaga went crazy with these on latest fashion shows. We have seen Rihanna rock their leather-velvet navy blues, and we admired those lime green ones as well as those square antelope leather ones. Besides Balenciaga, brands like Valentino and Celine also embraced this vibe. Not only do these cool boots look incredibly futuristic, they are also made of top-quality materials, since they have to be skintight. Not to mention that they are also comfortable as hell! You can find them in a wide range of styles and, while wearing them, you will feel like you have 2 layers of skin on your legs – which believe it or not, feels great!shoe trends

Wear them with:

You can copy Rihanna’s style and rock them with a striped button-down shirt and a mini denim skirt. They also go great with baggy jeans and oversized tops or crop tops – basically, they go with almost anything.

Flatforms

The trend that we thought will never see the sunlight again managed to come back once more. Platform sneakers or flatforms are among us, probably to remind us of the fashion of the ‘80s. People either hate them or adore them. Brands like Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci etc. really embraced these, and you can now find them in literally any color and pattern. Silver or black ones with white stars are probably the most popular choice.SHOE TRENDS

Wear them with:

If you decide to buy these, go all the way and combine them with eighties-like garments such as leggings and one-shoulder T-shirts. You go girl!

Glittery slip-on shoes

It is simple – many of us just don’t enjoy heels. That’s why slip-on shoes or ballet pumps will always be here for us. They are a great option when you want to be trendy, but want to avoid heels. Not to mention that they also got a glittery update now, so you will definitely stand out.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Since they are so girly-like, they will go great with those cute day dresses every woman must have. Also, you are free to wear them with your blouse, jacket and skinny jeans if you love that cute, college-girl vibe.

Kitten heels

Kitten heels were never this popular and cool. Kitten heels are basically shoes with super short and slender heels (from 1.5 inches to 1.75 inches), which became popular thanks to Audrey Hepburn. Even though many girls think of them as “granny heels”, check out what famous designers had done to them, like Celine – with their straps and ties, Dior – with their logoed version, and Miu Miu with their transparent flower details.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Since they are super elegant, they go great with business attire, but since it is the year 2017, who can forbid you to rock them with your boyfriend jeans and a bold tank top?

Athletic inspired boots

From all of those athleisure combinations, this is something that just had to happen, even though we didn’t expect it. Dior and Versace decided to launch boxer-like boots that, surprisingly, look incredibly cool and versatile. Versace and Maison Martin Margiela also followed this vibe, and as far as we can see, they are going to stay among us for a while.shoe trends

Wear them with:

Again, since it is the year 2017, your options are limitless, but try sticking to minimalistic and monochrome outfits since these boots are already over the top.

That would be it. What do you think about these trends? Let us know in the comments.

WRAP TOP AND LEAF PRINT SKIRT & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

My not green leaf print skirt.

You see at the moment in the new collections, just like last year, a lot of skirts with palm leaf prints. In green of course. I always like to do the things a bit different, also with trends. So, also with this trend. I love these kind of skirts, wide knee-lenght skirts. Especially when they have a bold print. I used to wear pencilskirts all the time, but now I wear more wider skirts. I think it has something to do with a certain area that nowadays only looks flat when I havn’t eaten for two days…….

How did I wear my leaf print skirt.

As you already know by now, I love a simple style. I am not going to bend over backwards to style this leaf print skirt in the most original way. I am wearing it Nancy’s style. That means a simple black top and boots with a printed skirt. I wear a choker with the outfit against all odds. I know these kind of necklaces don’t suit me very well. And after seeing it on the pictures I know I won’t wear it again! I thought I give the trend a go… The skirt reminds me a bit of the 70 s. When I was a child my grandparents had curtains with this print. In green of course. THE BAD BUY BOOK SITTING SHOES!

Welcome to The Bad Buy Book Sitting Shoes!

The Bad Buy Book is a series hosted by Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy from Nancy’s Fashion Style. We wanted to establish together something fun and new. We both talked about our”Sitting Shoes” and so we came up with the idea for The Bad Buy Book.

We all do our best to look great in our outfits, choose the right accessories, the right makeup, the perfect shoes, and wait for the best light to shoot the most flattering outfit photos. And now we are asking you to show us the items you don’t feel your very best in. You know, those ,,Sitting Shoes”, that dress that is actually not quite your color, the skirt that is a size too small but the saleswoman said it looked amazing. We all own those items!  And while they may look fabulous, they don’t always feel fabulous! So we want you to show us your bad buys and tell us the story about them! What made you purchase the item?  And why do you dislike it now?  And why not share them with us?  We buy these things for a reason then hide them in the back of the closet.  Now it’s their turn to share the limelight.

,,Sitting Shoes”

This month’s theme is ,,Sitting Shoes”. You know those shoes that are absolutely adorable, complete stunners, to die for, those had-to-have-them shoes. The ones that were so perfect in the store but turned out to be the most uncomfortable, intolerable shoes ever. Those are the shoes that Shelbee and I like to call,,Sitting Shoes”.

The theme for April will be Trousers! Share your photos of those trousers that you thought were perfect but turned out to be too loose, too baggy, too long, too short, too staticky, too itchy, too hot, too thin…..or whatever the case may be!

You can send us your picture with a few words to: shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancybaten@upcmail.nl

The submission date is the first of April.

Well, let’s take a look now at your,,Sitting Shoes”!

Your host Shelbee

I found these wedges on clearance for a great deal and thought they were so versatile with the nude color.  And I loved the cork texture of the thong.  I should have heeded the warning that there were SO many pairs of them left on clearance.  It is the worst shoe design ever.  A thong on a high wedge.  As your heel is lifted up by the wedge heel, the thong jams so hard in between your toes that you can’t walk ten feet without severe pain!  It is so obvious, yet I was so blinded by the “great deal”!

Rena in The Bad Buy Book Sitting Shoes

I bought these boots on-line this past December and when I first tried them on, the heel didn’t seem so high.  It wasn’t until we had to walk about a block from our townhouse to the location when this photo was taken that I realized that these boots were definitely “sitting shoes”

These red sandals were a great deal when I got them. And they were fine wearing them for the first hour. But after that, the straps dug into my foot too much!!

Needless to say, I just gave them away. And am on the hunt for another pair of red sandals—they go with everything!!

These boots are so beautiful! But they are true off boots! I can not walk on these, but because I find them so stylish I wear them when I need to go somewhere quickly. For an errand or when I have to go to work. At work they go out! But I have, in any case, stylishly arrived!

“I have a fabulous friend that bought me these boots as a total surprise. (Her name might be Shelbee). I couldn’t wait to wear them, and at the time I had no boots of this style or height. They were tough to get on, even though I have a narrow foot, and you have grab the mesh area to help ease them up. Unfortunately, they ripped the first time I wore them and after about 45 minutes, were extremely tough to walk in. They are loose at the leg, and all of the weight is on your toes. These are my fabulous, stylish, sittin’ boots.”

These pumps were a thrift store find that I was giddy over because they are real leather and were showing hardly any wear.  It turns out that they are not so comfortable for much walking even though the heel is somewhat moderate.  There is no cushioning in the insole so a pad may help but I haven’t try that yet.

Your host NancyThe Bad Buy Book Sitting ShoesI bought these years ago and also in brown and blue. All three are horrible to walk. They are simply painful. But so beautiful…sigh.

Thank you all for your contribution! We hope to see a lot of your worst trousers!
