LOOKING BACK AT 2016 & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

The last Fancy Friday of the year! Let’s make it the best!

Looking back at 2016

I had actually planned for today another post, but I thought it would be nice to have a moment to look back on 2016. Not only on blogging area but simply about everything. I got the idea when I wanted to see how my blog looked like a year ago and read the post of the same day a year ago. I remembered I was very disappointed in my social life and that I wanted to change that in 2016. What I did was just let go…..letting go of friendships that don’t bring you anything, only sucking the energy out of me. And suddenly new friendships were made, as if I was more open to it( I think). I was not sick in 2016……at least not for a week ago! I got very sick last week but I feel much better now and my lungs weren’t affected so I was very happy! Further I’m somewhat deteriorated, my energy is less and less, but I can cope better with it. We went twice to the UK and the second time twice as long as normal. England is a real treat for us, we love it there. We can’t wait to go again. We had some great weekend trips and nothing really bad happened with our family and friends. But the highlight for me was the concert of The Cure. Like if I was in a daze the whole time.

And what has changed with the blog?

Well actually a lot! Here is the post from the same day last year. I still love the outfit, but the pictures were taken by phone and this was the free wordpress site and I had never heard of SEO. Pity that I can’t see anymore how many visitors I had back then. I also didn’t host the Fancy Friday linkup yet. That started here. My goal was to have 100 linkups per week by the end of the year. That did not happen, the highest was 87. But I am secretly quite a bit proud. In April I switched to a self-hosted site and I learned so much more! You should know that before I  started blogging, I had never worked with a computer. Yes, I could send e-mails but that was it. Before I started the free blog, I went to a four night course about blogging and the rest I figured out all by myself. And I  am very happy and proud of my little playground! And now I must see if I can articulate a good sense because I don’t want to sound so cliché. I find it incredibly amazing that I have so many loyal readers around the world. Thank you for reading, participating and commenting! Awesome!

I wish you all  a very nice New Year’s Eve!

CHRISTMAS DAYS ARE OVER…..

Christmas days are over…..

As long as you look forward to it and as soon it’s over. I got ill the Thursday before Christmas and had to get everything out of the bag of tricks to lower the fever. Fortunately it was on Christmas day the fever subsided and I could still enjoy it, but it was a tough couple of days. So on my Christmas days there was NOT a lot of wine involved because I had so much medication that it did not seem very sensible to drink alcohol. Well, there are worse things, aren’t there! I am now getting better slowly  and just happy that I managed to avoid the hospital.

How we spend our Christmas days.

On Christmas morning we had a long and relaxed breakfast with unwrapping our gifts to each other. Gerben is great in buying me gifts I really love. I got a Matroesjka doll! I loved those when I was a young girl, who didn’t. And earrings, the Vogue, chocolates( handmade), Rituals, bathrobe, and lots more. What I wore that day was a black bodycon dress with a leather bolero, lace tights and pumps. I tried to take pictures from our house, we have reindeers with a sleigh on the roof and a laserlight with green and red ….things shining on the house, but it doesn’t look good on the picture. The only picture were you can see the reindeers is when we blocked out all of the rest, hahaha. Gerben’s parents came for diner and we fondued! Boxing day we went out for diner with a group of friends, the group is never the same, sometimes new people join, it’s fun to meet new people. We had a Chef’s diner, Asian food, it was delicious! I could eat Asian food everyday of the week. I wore my wide midi skirt with the pumps and glitter socks, a lace sweater and my leopard print bracelet( the one that no one won, but that’s for another story). And now it is over…….and we start to countdown for new years eve!

Enjoy your week everyone!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Merry Christmas and the cards!

For years Gerben and I send Christmas cards with a personal touch. Yes, we know that Christmas cards on paper are so 90 s, but we just keep on doing it because we like it! We also like to receive cards and stick them on the door. So if we make the pictures for the cards it’s always such fun. The cats are namely involved too. And they have to wear a Christmas outfit as well. I had bought such a lovely outfit for Castor, it made me terribly laugh. For Teun I should actually buy a dog thing because he is a big cat.

What we do at Christmas.

In the Netherlands we have two Christmas days and on Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas day, we already start celebrating. On Christmas Eve Gerben and I eat at home, we don’t know yet what but there will be wine involved! On Christmas morning we unpack the gifts that we bought for each other while having breakfast, with of course Christmas bread. In the afternoon my parents in law come over to our house and we cook diner for them. We also don’t know what we will cook but again, there will be wine involved. Boxing day will probably be a quite day, perhaps go out for a walk and at night we are going out to diner with a group of friends. That will be a cozy, very noisy evening with a lot of wine involved! I think I will offer to drive……that’s better….

Gerben,Teun, Castor and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas with lots of fun and cozy days!

WEARING A BLAZER & JOGGERS & CO-HOSTING!

Mixing a blazer with a joggers!

Today I am wearing a combination of dressed and casual with a blazer and joggers. I love these pants. It feels as good  as a real sweatpants and yet stylish. Today I am wearing it a bit dressier. I showed you the pants  before here, but I like it better with a blazer and a blouse. As you probably know by now I do not wear pants often, although I lately have showed quite a few. But when I wear pants then preferably a bit like this style. Casual but a bit dressier. I don’t like a totall casual look at myself. Since I saw Nicole, from High Latitude Style, wearing socks in sandals, I’m a big fan of wearing socks and these aren’t open shoes but I show a bit of the (glitter) sock anyway. It’s a great thing to get inspired by other bloggers from all over the world.

Something totally different like blazers and joggers!

When I was still working, I of course knew that a time would come when I could no longer work because of my hereditary lung disease. I then had always in my mind that I would do volenteer work and that would be something with the homeless. Never occured to me that when I couldn’t work anymore, I also wouldn’t be able to mean much for others. But especially at this time of the year( but certainly not only at this time of the year) this group of people is in my thoughts and I pray, in my own way, for them. They are people, with feelings! Usually with a lot of misery behind them, and not only behind them. Please think of that when you see them on the streets.

And speaking of Nicole……today I may proudly co-host her Top of the World Style fashion linkup party. This is the beautiful outfit that inspired me to wear socks in sandals.

FINALLY LEOPARD PRINT BOOTS!

I am finally showing my leopard print booties!

I showed you these already here but I hadn’t done a hole post with these  leopard print boots. They are a bit to big but with thick socks they are just fine, and I must say quite honestly that this is not the leopard print boots I had in mind, but of course those are not available. I would have preferred a more elegant boot with a queenie heel. But I have to say, these are quite comfortable. When we were taking these pictures it was really cold outside and I can see that back in the pictures. I had to jump and move like an idiot and pull funny faces or else I was turning a bit purple. Sigh, live of a fashionblogger is hard! I have showed everything I am wearing before here and here. The skinny jeans I don’t wear often because it’s quite low and I do not like that, but it’s a beautiful color olive green with a bit of a golden glow on it. The jacket is one of my favorites this season.

Leopard print can be styled with anything.

Earlier…..well I mean years and years ago, I wore quite often leopard print. I have always loved it. But then I was wearing, for example, a leopard print pencil skirt and the rest kept simple and black with no accesories. Today leopard print is often mixed with other prints. And I must say, I love it! I first mixed it here and I found this combination really super. I was inspired by other bloggers who mixed prints together. It’s so nice to experiment with your outfits, sometimes you can be really surprised. And that is what also makes blogging so much fun, to experiment with the clothes you have. And to get inspiration from other bloggers. I wear a brooche of a safety pin with blue in it, blue earrings and a green leather bracelet. I grabbed the belt from Gerben’s drawer, he has not even seen ! I like the hair band but of course it was only born out of necessity, I had a bad hair day! Gerben said that I only needed to put on an apron and a rag in my hand and then the picture was complete! Yeah….just shoot those damn pictures, I am dying of cold here!

Jeans: old, but simular here*

WINACTIE & FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Today I have a winactie!

I can hear my foreign readers thinking: what is that word? Well that means giveaway in Dutch. But unfortunately it is only valid in the Netherlands and Belgium. So today no story for you, I’m sorry. On the other hand, you can now go straight to the linkup and save time! Good eh!

Succes!
