GRAY SHIRT DRESS & LINKUP

Today I’m wearing a gray shirt dress and it’s Fancy Friday linkup time!

Join the Fancy Friday linkup at the bottom of this post! I’ve already let you all know in a previous post that I want to start a series about style, you can read all about it here. For those who had already let me know they were interested, I’m looking forward to your mail, of some I know it’s coming later.

The shirt dress is very trendy at the moment, although you saw them a lot in spring collections too. This is an item that is always stylish, easy to wear and versatile. I own several shirt dresses, see here and here, and basically I never wear them barelegged. I don’t like them barelegged. The one I am wearing today is been on the blog before here and you can see I only wear it in the colder months while the fabric is chiffon, so it’s really a summer item. But not for me, today I am wearing a gray shirt dress with dark brown!

Colors that you’re not supposed to wear together!

Last week I told a bit in this post about what my style says over me. I remember now that I forgot to mention that I am terribly stubborn. Yes yes, self- reflection. I love contradictions, smart and tough, pink and red, blue and green, masculine pants with high heels… And so I wear this gray shirt dress with dark brown, wich actually is not done in fashion world. But yeah, stubborn. First I think the boots are beautiful with the shirtdress( the shoemaker could not take anything of the heel so these are sitting boots). And it seemed to me not at all nice to add another color to make it a little brighter. And why should I, it doesn’t have to be smart, it has to be the way I like it!

And who decides then what you can and can’t wear together, you yourself surely! If you find it beautiful and you feel good in it, it’s good. Well, that is not entirely true, it depends on your demands on the way you want to look. There are plenty of women who wear something because they have to wear something. You hardly can go outside in your bare ass. And then I may think, oh dear you could look so much nicer if you put a little more affort into it. But if that women is not interested in the way she looks, who am I to say that she could look so much better. But okay, I think gray and dark brown go well together, it depends on the items and the accesories. Gold colored earrings to keep a warm touch in my face, wooden bangles and a corsage to secretly brighten it up…Nancy’s style!

Shirtdress: this one is from last year, I saw a nice one here*

Boots: these were from h&m last year, these hereare gorgeous too, check the heel!

CO-HOST IN HALLOWEEN STYLE!

I’m so glad to co-host in Halloween Style!

I love Halloween, but here in the Netherlands we don’t do much about it. Yeah, you can find a pumpkin candle or scented scull or something like that in the stores, but dressing up is something we don’t do. I think it’s a shame because I love Halloween. Like I love horror! Haha. Oh, how I would love to have a proper Halloween someday. Perhaps I should start my own tradition! Throwing a Halloween party! Hm, why didn’t I get that idea earlier.

Today I am the co-host of Monica at her blog Jersey girl Texan heart. This week it’s Halloween week on her blog. So you understand that I was very happy to be the co-host this week. I got the chance to dress up a bit! Yeah! So, check out what Monica has done this week and linkup!

SHEER BOW BLOUSE & LEATHER PENCIL SKIRT LINKUP

Fancy Friday linkup is on at the bottom of the post!

I must say I never thought that there would ever join so many amazing women( and a male!) the Fancy Friday linkup. Every week it’s wonderful to see what will be on display for stunning outfits, fun stories and delicious recipes. I find it very nice to see every week who is the most viewed and hope that that person is as happy as I am when I’m being featured by another blogger. Thank you my faithful and new linkuppers!

Sheer bow blouse & leather pencil skirt.

We had a lovely late summer day here on Sunday in the Netherlands. It was around 19 degrees and the sun was shining. It was only one day, by the end of the week it will be 11 degrees. But we enjoyed the sun! I actually thought when I put on the blouse that maybe it was less translucent. But when I saw the pictures I thought, mm should I wear this. But I think a camisole underneath would be less nicer. And the fact that the bow is exactly on the right place saves the day. I love bow blouses, but as I stated here, this one is also not very convenient while cooking or eating for that matter. So this is actually a sit down and do nothing blouse. I also hope that I no longer will be tempted to buy more leather skirts. I can namely not wear them at home! We have a stark white leather couch! Wich is a shame because I love leather skirts and dresses. So this would be then a, straight out the door, skirt. Well I don’t  think this is going to be my favorite outfit. Too much hassle.

Skirt: mine was already sold out, I’m sorry, simular here

Blouse: old one, but fabulous one here

Peeptoes:  old, but simular here

GUEST POST & GUEST BLOGGERS WANTED

Guest blogging for Nina!

Today I am guest blogging for Nina. Nina’s blog is called a World of Dresses. And as the title suggests, she always wears dresses! How awesome is that! She has even raised money for a charity with her dresses. Doing well Nina! I think Nina is a powerful woman, she recently moved to Spain to work there and learn the language better. I think she has her social life on the roll in no time. It’s fun to follow her adventures there. She’s also planning on visiting Amsterdam so we could perhaps meet with each other. How crazy is that! I would love to meet you Nina!

Guest bloggers wanted!

I stated it a few times in my blog that I’m looking for guest bloggers. I want to include a series of women, don’t have to be only bloggers, who want to talk about their style. It’s not going to be a interview. Just a nice story of how you came to your style, how long do you have this style, were did you get this style, why do you love your style etc. And it would be nice if you  add pictures of your style that reflects your personality. If you are interested you can send me an email via the contact page. I’ll set an example and hope you find this so much fun that you want to join!

My style

My passion for fashion appparently started very early because my  grandparents told me long time ago a story: I was four years old and I could pick out some new shoes. And I just wanted black patent leather shoes! Nothing else. There you have it! When I was in my puberty(14) I began to develope my style. Not that I wore pencilskirts at that age, lol, but I began to love music that nobody else in  my environment loved. It started with The Cure, then Siouxie & the Banshees and more New Wave, hardrock and Punk. And if you loved this kind of music you wore black. So while friends wore colorful dresses, I wore black. Black clothes, big earrings, big hair! No scarves, necklaces, or brooches, just gold colored big earrings.

Hasn’t my style changed over the years?

Over the years my style changed into lots of pencilskirts and dresses. Always a bit fussy with a cool item( don’t know if that is correct), what I mean is a pencilskirt with a studded belt for example. That’s what I liked and still do. I sometimes wore gray or brown but my wardrobe concisted almost exclusively of black garments and golden accesories. Since blogging more color came into my wardrobe. And I like color now, but when I wear a black outfit I feel most myself. I still wear almost no accesories, often or larger earrings, or bracelets but almost never at the same time. In terms of shoes my tast stayed almost the same. I was and am fond of ankle boots and preferably with a nice heel, but because my lung capacity is not very big, I keep my heels not to high. And what does my style say about my personality? I don’t like a mess, I want everything clean and organised, I know exactly what I do and do not want, I have a strong will, I never walk away from a challenge, I’m not easily approachable( well, I am but people think I’m not!) and I’m not the easiest person to be with! Duh.

I hope to see a mail with a story about your style!

This is where I link up!

Thank you Nina and I wish you all a fabulous week!

LEOPARD PRINT & CHECKERED FANCY FRIDAY LINKUP

Fancy Friday linkup

I f you do not want to read the whole story or you just can’t handle me wearing two prints, scroll right down and linkup! For the heroes…. hold on tight!

Leopard print & checkered!

Most of you know by now that I am not into prints very often. You should see my kitchen and living room, stark white, no frills, empty, almost sterile. And so it is with my style, no fuss. Well then you will, I think, be surprised that I am wearing two prints today! I actually surprised myself too! But when I saw this cardigan, it looks a bit like a jacket, I knew immediately that it would look great on this blouse. I wear the sleeves up because, yeah, that’s the trend eh! Haha, but I like it.  But why does this combination works for me? I have no idea. I searched on the net about mixing prints to give you some tips, but I have apparently failed to comply with the hints. Does that mean I look like I dressed myself in the dark? Haha, no I don’t think so. I think that if it feels good, it is! And when in doubt….DON’T. Never! Btw, I saw here a beautiful coat and they also have a gorgeous pencilskirt in the same print! H&M has got great new items this week.

PLEATED SKIRT FALL VERSION

Today I’m wearing my pleated skirt Fall version!

The trend of 2016 is the pleated skirt. When I first wore this skirt I told you how I was inspired to buy a pleated skirt. I actually havn’t worn it that much yet because it’s a fairly heavy skirt and quite warm. But now it’s time to get it out of the closet and wear it a lot. The pleated skirt is seen in every collection in every color and even with prints. When I was in the UK a few weeks ago, I saw this one but didn’t buy it. Now I regret it, it’s almost sold out. And they are so versatile, wear it with a high heeled shoe and it’s dressed. Wearing boots with heels or ankle boots, it becomes more casual and when you wear a flat boot it gives the look a bit of an edge. The pleated skirt is a great garment.

Beauty is in the simplicity….

That’s what the sweater says. I am not a person that has much with spells and texts who are to be called profound. It is that it’s in French, it sounds good, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. Beauty is in the simplicity, yeah we all know that. We all know that we should enjoy the little things , that we have to realize what we have, that we should be grateful etc. etc. …most people are going to do that when life is no longer that obvious…. and there is nothing wrong with that. People should live there lives the best they can, the way they want to. I think the important thing is satisfaction! When you’re not satisfied, you can’t enjoy simple things. And probably also not simple things for that matter. I am glad I am a happy person. But well… the text actually refers to my taste in style. I like my outfits without to much prints, without to much accesories, without to much of anything. And is there anything wrong with that? No, I am satisfied with it! What else do you want?

What I wear on my pleated skirt?

I would love to wear the skirt with  a nice thick sweater with very long sleeves and a large col. But not just yet, we’ll do that in Winter! I’m wearing a thin sweater, a coated bikerjacket and my favorite lace-up boots that I bought four years ago because they were so beautiful just to look at…..and that’s exactly what I ve been doing ……looking at them. The heel was to high, but I brought them to the shoemaker( is that a correct word? It sounds strange) and he has taken a small piece of the heel and they are perfect now! I’m so happy with it!
