MY WEEK 21

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I understand that a lot of you had along weekend because of Memorial Day. I hope you had a lovely day. Let me take you through my week.

I had a pretty busy week. Monday we had a meeting at the hospital about caring for lung patients. I can share my experiences there and make suggestions to a group of doctors and other disciplines. Wednesday another meeting and on Thursday I had, with my sister in law and her daughter, a shopping night at my former colleague. A fun night of shopping, chatting, eating, drinking and lots of fitting! This is my sister in law in a beautiful pleated summer dress, and I am really over it now…..I never buy a culotte!

Besides, one can say that women need much time for shopping, but men( at least mine) need their time also. Pfff, an hour in one section of the store and an hour in the other section. Thank God we only went to one store!

Gerben made a delicious cheeseburger, and yesterday mixed grilled vegetables with steak and garlic sauce. And the cheese platter is specially for Jess. I also had to go to the garage because stone martens had been eating at the wiring of the car, AGAIN!

Saturday we had a day out from Gerben’s work. About 15 colleagues with their partners. We were picked up by bus and went to Amersfoort where we had a puzzle ride in 2CV or as they say here, ugly ducklings. We had so much fun on the road, in the middle of a very busy intersection come to a standstill, a sudden downpour while the roof is open and low flying over the thresholds. We did not win! Haha. After that we had an BBQ, it was a very lovely day. I wish you all a very good week!

outfit in Fancu Friday linkup party

It’s Fancy Friday! That means time to linkup! Join me at the bottom of this post.

I’ve never been someone who had the same taste as many. In my adolescence I loved rock music( still do) and the rest loved disco, I wore only black and the rest colorful clothes. Back then I would have preferred that I had a more average taste, now I am glad I didn’t. As I said before, through blogging I am buying more colorful clothes than I ever did. Last night I went to a shopping evening in the shop of my former colleague, and bought a bright red top and pencilskirt! I’ll show you soon. But sometimes the rocker in me comes out and I want to wear black and though. I like to wear though items ( I am not sure though is the right word, perhaps edgy or sturdy?), but mixed with feminine ones.

So what happens when the rock chick inside me comes out?

I wanted to wear this  Siouxsie and the Banshees tee again. I used to be a big fan of this music. Along with The Cure this was my favorite band, still is. In November Gerben and I are attending a concert of The Cure here in the Netherlands. But well, the outfit! It is very obvious to wear the tee with a leather leggings or a black skinny, but I wanted to make it more feminine. So I´m wearing a black and white pencilskirt with it. To be honest I do not really like the outfit. Next time I prefer to wear a leather leggings with it……

outfit of a graphic skirt womenslook

Today’s womenslook has got  some color! A graphic skirt with khaki.

I love graphic shapes. To look at that is… But when I saw this graphic skirt I new I had to have it. I like clean lines and figures. Also in our interior lines are as much as possible in proportion to each other. We spent hours puzzling with the kitchen because we wanted all the lines to be right. They have to be straight with each other. I am not sure if you know what I mean. Our bank stands in the same line as the table and those kind of things. Paintings or mirrors should hang right in the middle of the wall, we measure that! Not that we have a neurosis, we just love it when everything is in balance. And everything is white! Most people find it very sterile in our house. Luckely that people make the atmosphere and not the interior! Lol.

Let’s talk about the outfit.

This kind of skirts I feel great to wear when it’s hot. Unfortunately that is not here yet, but I wanted to wear it anyway. A year ago I would have worn the skirt with only black on it, but through blogging I am wearing more color. The cardigan lights the outfit up and I think the shoes are perfect for this skirt. I fell for the skirt because of the colors(you might think: colors? girl, it’s fall what you are wearing) bare in mind that I used to wear almost only black!

I wish you all a happy Wednesday!

FANCY FRIDAY linkup party

Fancy Friday linkup is on. Read more at the bottom of this post!

First of all I want to thank everyone for linking up last week. Since I was(and still am) on holiday I didn’t have the time to thank everyone personally.

Today my post is a bit different than normal. I want to talkabout blogging today. I write my blog always in my own words, I don’t think about what sounds best or how I present myself at best. I am just me! I want to share the following with you.

When I started blogging, slightly more than a year ago, I did because I wasn’t able to work anymore and I already was searching for something usefull to do. Only cleaning is not going to bright my day! I told you before, I love writing and have a passion for fashion, so this was it. Meanwhile I switched to self hosting and learned more and more. Every time I think, well my blog is finished, there is something new to learn and explore. Blogging gives me a lot of satisfaction and the feeling that I still can contribute something to ….whoever, whatever. What surprised me when I went to self hosting was, I did not transfer my followers from fashionandfoodandotherstuff because I wondered who was going to follow me again, that bloggers with whom you thought you had a nice contact, did not follow me again. Then I noticed that I always responded to them, but not vice versa. What an eye opener. And now I have to say quite honestly that most of them were Dutch bloggers. You would expect that you give each other a little support. But no, Dutch people for that matter always give better criticism than give another blogger too much. It’s a pity.

But what do I actually want to say before this becomes an extremely long story?

I want to say THANK YOU!flowers in Fancy Friday linkup

Because what surprised me and made me happy, is that the bloggers who faithfully respond are the ones with much populair blogs. I am only just Nancy, wearing my own style( not everyones cup of tea) pictures taken with a simple camera, preferable in my own garden because it costs me too much energy to take pictures at a better location. And my most loyal readers have far more professional blogs, with a huge amount of followers and comments, and then they make the effort and the time to read my blog and also to react. I find that incredible! Thank you, I’m very thankful for that!

Well, time for something more lighthearted!

And now it’s time for the start of the Fancy Friday linkup party. Every Friday you can show yourself and meet other bloggers. Even if you’re not a blogger you can join!

MY HOLIDAY IN ENGLAND

A report from our trip to England.

This is the second and last week of our vacation, we always take two weeks in May/June and two weeks in August/September. Last week we went to England. Previous years we always went to England in the spring and to Ibiza in September, but since I can not fly anymore we go twice a year to England. I’m totally addicted to England, I would like to live there. It is such a beautiful country and the people are so social and nice. We always go to Sussex, to the same B&B with such wonderful people, truly a joy to be there. Once I can see the Cliffs on the boat, I get the jitters. We had a great time and the weather was wonderful.

What did we eat in England?

Well I had eaten a delicious roast off the day with all the trimmings in a pub, but it looked so good that I completely forgot to take a picture of it. haha, very sorry but here is an impression of other great food we ate in England!

What did we do in England?

As we have so often been to Sussex, we have seen the most of it. But we are not adventurous and love to go more often to the same places. I love Brighton and we’ve been ther all day, shopping and strolling on the Pier (there is a great Mac store in Brighton!). We also went to Hever Castle were Anne Boleyn lived. It is a very nice castle but also the story about King Henry Vlll is lovely to read, and the castle has got a beautiful garden.

What did I wear in England?

I find it always more difficult to pack for England because the weather can be so diverse. So I always try to pack dresses were you can wear leggings underneath and a cardigan over it. As we are always out in the UK you would not want to wear yere clothing and not too fancy, but you also want to look a bit stylish right?

Hi everyone! How are you al doing? My week was great of course because we have got two weeks of! Last week we spent a week in England, I will show you on Wednesday, and now we have another week off. The holiday started well on Thursday as we could for the first time really eat outside. Delicious! And the next day we drove to Calais crossing to Dover. I am always so happy when I see those white cliffs again!

Our backyard was obviously just at its best when we were away, but this is what I see when I wake up. And at half past four in the night the birds awake, and they make such a beautiful sound! I love it! It is always good when you are on vacation and you also find it nice to go home. But we still wanted to stay for a few days more in Rye.

I am recently completely a fan of Mac cosmetics. And in Brighton they have a Mac shop so I obviously could not just walk by. It is a beautiful shop where you really get greedy but I restrained myself just because G was waiting outside, otherwise I would have stayed there for an hour or so more( I already was there for over an half hour) I bought a new lipstick and lipliner.

My parents in law were in February married for 55 years, and we had promised my mother in law a girls afternoon. Last Saturday we, daughter, daughters in law and granddaughters, went to a wonderful location in Arnhem and we had a High Tea. I am in the family for 24 years and I believe this was the first time we went with all the women of the family on a day out. Very nice! My sister in law bought a porcelain teapot and with waterproof markers we have personalized it so my mother in law got a unique and precious teapot.

I wish you all a very happy week and hope to see you on Wednesday!
